My name is Erin. I live in Alaska with my husband of 11 yrs, 4 kids, 2 dogs, 3 cats, 6 fish, 1 momma moose with twins. We just finalized the adoption of three siblings with special needs we had as foster parents. They are ages 4,5, 10. The two youngest are boys who both have Hemophilia A, one has cerible palsy as well, and ADHD. The girl just turned 10 today, she has a suitcase full of disabilities from the abuse from her biological parents. She has ADHD, ODD, OCD, SAD, mild mental retardation, PTSD, Bipolar if that wasnt enough, she was molested repeatedly by the father with the mother passed out next to him. I also do fostor care for a private agency and the State of Alaska. I have a 17 yr old who also has PTSD, and moderate retardation, along with a slew of other problems, ODD being very known here. I have been on the old site for a few months now, found it by accident. This one is awesome and I love all the people I have met over the past few months. It has helped me gain information about meds and daily battles.

hi everyone! i'm so glad veronica was kind enough to get this started. i've only been with the old list since summer but you people have helped me so many times. i've been married for 22 years have two children, dd is adhd and 18 years old, ds is 15 and not adhd. dd is currently doing well in college, b's as far as we know. i'm extremely pleased with that as long as that's what she's really getting. those are just the papers she's let us see. we've recently caught her in a few big lies so i'm really struggling with loss of trust issues. it's great to see so many familiar names here! karen

Hi -- I'm Christie, dansmommy from the other site. Dan is eight, with Tourette's, ADHD, and some other stuff that I'm still trying to figure out. I have a four year old daughter who is not ADHD, but she's not boring either! I found the other site about six months ago or so and just came back from vacation to find the other site gone and this one started. Thanks everyone for all the hard work that's gone into both sites. Christie

Hi all, I was nancydana at the last site. I didn't post much, but read all the time. So so helpful. I have three boys one 8, and two 7 (fraternal twins) all are severely ADHD with impulsivity. We deal daily with OCD issues, tics and possible LD's. Exhausting, but they are great boys.

Hi everyone! I am so glad that everyone likes the new site! It's so nice to see familiar names, glad you guys came over, it wouldn't be 'home' without you I would like to welcome all the new members, I hope you all feel at home here. It's not a web address that makes this feel like 'home'.....it's the warm and caring people This "Roll Call" thread is so cute! I guess it's my turn to introduce myself. I live in Ontario, Canada. I am 32 yrs old,I have been with my husband for 11 amazing years ;D I have 2 great kids.....a little hard to handle at the moment, but they are great kids ;D(that's an entire page to explain these 2 I will explain my saga soon. I have 2 dogs, a Great Dane, and a Collie/Lab mix, I also have 2 cats. Our son Johnathon is 12 yrs old, ADHD/Mood Disorder, and my step son Keith (who we won custody of in November 2001) is 13 yrs old. We have had him tested for a few different things, but no results yet. Ron, my husband has been rasing Johnathon since he was 1 yr old. Johnathon's biological father, who I married when I was 19, passed away in May 1992. Renee (the administrator of ADHD.com) saved my life 4 1/2 yrs ago. I found her forums and joined within minutes. I have never been so relieved to find other parents who understood what I was (and still am) going through! I made some dear friends over the past 4 1/2 yrs, and I was so afraid that our family on the adhd site would be seperated when Renee announced it would be closing. I want other parents to experience the friendships, understanding, and the feeling of NOT being alone as I did. I have been a Moderator on adhd.com for 4 years, and I can't think of one day that I have not thanked Renee for creating that site! I can tell you with all honesty that it doesn' t take long to make close friends here. Everyone understands eachother, and in this world, we need that!

I'm a 35 mom of 3 great kids and married to a wonderful husband for 12 years now. My oldest is my daughter Codi who is 11 (going on 16) and is as normal as it gets for a girl of 11! My middle child, Emily, turned 5 in July and has recently been diagnosed as severe ADHD with predominant hyperactivity. She has been going to speech therapy for 1+ year now with tremendous success!! When she started she could hardly be understood by anyone. Now she speaks much more clearly, has a normal vocabulary for her age and expresses her sense of humour much to my delight! She is almost always in a great mood, happy and infectious. Everyone around her seems to instantly adore her and I've been lucky that so many people have stepped up to be on her 'team'. It's been a long road to this diagnosis and yet I know we're still just at the start of this marathon. This Wednesday I go back to the pediatrician to go over test results from the psychologist and discuss medication options. She is repeating 4 year preschool this year - it was recommended that we keep her out of kinder this year to give her a chance to catch up. She is already falling behind mostly because she cannot function in class for any length of time. We've decided to give medication a try and see if it helps her be more successful. We want very badly for her to stay with her peer group as much as possible. My youngest is a son named Dillon. He will be 2 in December and so far seems to be developing and behaving much as our oldest daughter did. We are hoping that he will not have to go through the difficulties of ADD or ADHD. We also have 3 cats and a great dane named Becky (she thinks she's a lap dog). We recently lost our doberman to age and thankfully found a home for the two parakeets. I was having trouble deciding if we were Noah's Ark or Dr. Doolittle's workshop! ;D

Hi everybody! I just found the ADHD site a couple of weeks ago and was distressed to read that it wouldn't be continuing. Thanks, Veronica, for the new site! I'm 59, married 30 years to a guy with ADD, and we have two wonderful children. DD, 25, diagnosed in fourth grade with ADD and ODD, didn't take any meds until the end of 9th grade when she tried Ritalin and it changed her life! She became a super student and is now in grad school getting her Ph.D. in comparative literature!! DS, 20, was diagnosed in second grade with ADHD and dysgraphia. He started Ritalin in third grade , but it wasn't the magic bullet that it was for DD. He's tried many things--he also has depression. Right now he's on Wellbutrin, Celexa, and Adderall, and is doing quite well. He's taken a semester off from college and will go to University College Dublin in January, which he's really looking forward to. DH was diagnosed after DS and decided to try Ritalin, but it caused him to become depressed and he's not taking anything now. I wish this site had been around when my kids were small. It would have been such a tremendous help! I thought I was the only mom dealing with these problems. Reading over others' contributions, I feel as if I'm getting support in retrospect!!
