kaiti I feel the same way about cell phones - why do we need to be able to be reached at all times? Gone are the days when you could go shopping to get away from everyone - now they can get you everywhere! DH insisted I need one since I drive an hour each way to work every day, so I relented and got a pre-paid one - now if I don't feel like it, I just don't buy more minutes - plus there's no bill, so if I don't have the money, then I don't get more minutes!

That is too funny, Mike is down to I think about 10 minutes. He has a prepaid one too. We actually, well, HE got into a oneside arguement with me, I said no and he said yes. I said I'll turn the ringer off, leave it home or throw it out the window. I won ;DYes I am stubborn, twisted yes, but I like my road to be a little quieter.

I don't have a home phone, just the cell. In all actuality, it is cheaper than having a home phone. I live in a small town and to call ANYWHERE outside the town is long distance. Well, there is nothing in my town. We all run to the city for shopping, work, sports, you name it. So I pay my $48.17/month for a cell phone that has more minutes than I will ever use because nights and weekends are free, mobile to mobile is free (and almost everyone I know is on the same service as I). All I have to worry about are the daytime minutes that I use. Why use it during the day when I'm at work? My boss allows us to use the business phones for personal use, within reason. I have free nation-wide long-distance with my cell. It makes more sense to me because this phone I can take anywhere, a home phone is stuck at home and what good does it do me when I'm not there? The only people that would call there when I'm not home are the tememarketers, anyway.

OK, thinking about it, it isn't so as much a matter of me being stubborn about the fact of owning one, BUT around here, there is NO service. I'm sorry, very little.
Mike can get better service at the back of our house than he can sitting on the porch. He stood u pon the porch the other day and had 3 bars as opposed to 1 when sitting.
Anywhere we go, like to the club and other places, there isn't any service, so I just can't see the point in spending the money for it when we can't get through.
Even Nextels and the fancy expensive plans don't have service, so it's not like it's just a cheapy phone

That's a good point, in Saskatchewan where I live, cellular service is patchy because your phone communicates with a service tower which then communicates with a satellite. If you are not near a tower, which is the case in much or most of Saskatchewan, then your cellular phone will not work for you.

Exactly, that is one reason I don't want it, why buy something that might work might not work

We have 3 cellular phone´s in my house, no land line at all, adsl with the computer and we are doing fine But; I live in the country where everyone(and I mean everyone) has a cell phone, our service work´s fine, only lappland has some area´s where it´s not so good, but in here souther part, it work´s fine. Barry, tell him to get a prepaid, so he doesn´t have to think about bill´s, and tell her that the one with camera is not so good anyway If he need´s one for communicating he´ll do fine with a regular one ;D

He got his camera and has already taken a picture of her giving him a big kiss. He took the picture by holding the phone out at arm's length and pointing it back at himself. He said that if he ever can't make his payments, he expects me to help him out.

So now you have to pay for pictures of him kissing his GF, UM, draw the line Barry. He can get a cheaper model. And if he has a problem, I'll come visit you
