Well, I sent my middle school "senior" on her merry way this morning to start off the new school year. Man, where did the summer go? She was looking forward to getting back to the "social" part of it...seeing her friends and breaking the boredom of staying home, but she isn't lloking forward to getting back to the homework part of it! Me neither!! Anyway, my first impression of her teachers was good so here's to hoping I was right! She left this morning looking very pretty yet stylish (very important! at this age hehe) in her new clothes and sporting her new haircut. She is NOT on the same team as A this year and currently has two boys wanting her as a girlfriend. The bullies from last year are leaving her alone and one is trying to become a friend I think. Oh, I so hope this continues and she has a good final yeasr in middle school. Hopefully I won't be needing my hat and broom too much. I can't believe summer break is over though! But, since it is.... I'm ready for Fall!

Gosh the middle school years were challenging for us with all the boy issues being brought up too and the fashion etc. LOL

Well, according to her, her first day went well. She seems to like the teachers and has friends in each class. They may not be the "best" ones, but friends none the less. The past two morning have been sooooo smooth. she has actually been up and at'em early and ready before me! But I am not naive.. I know this will end. The year always starts out that way and once the newness wears off and the tiredness sets in (getting up at 5:30 am gets old REAL quick) our old, crazy mornings will return. Maybe she'll prove me wrong, but I doubt it.

The first 2 weeks of school is what teachers refer to as the "honeymoon period". The kids are excited to be back with there friends and some things are brand new.
Then Watch Out ;D ;D ;D

My son will usually stretch the honeymoon phase out into the middle of winter. I guess we are lucky in that aspect. Miles

My kiddo started august 2nd. So far it looks to be a better year than the last two. I talked with the teacher on orientation day. According to what she told me, having incomplete classwork won't be a big deal, as long as he's getting some work done and it's done correctly. Already, she's doing special things for him to help him out. They have to copy the math problems off the board. Of course my kiddo can't do that and get many done. She's going to start making a xerox copy of the problems for him to work on. She's also working on organizing his desk for him. We'll have to work on keeping it organized. He was telling me how nice she was about it - not like his teacher last year. I reminded him this was the beginning of the school year. Just wait till March or so and she won't be sounding so nice. I'm determined to go through this year without medicine. Today is his first test day. Got my fingers crossed that he can complete them!

I love it when that happens.

:)The teacher Rose had for 4th has gone to 6th and WE GOT HER!!! She was very helpful and understanding 2 years ago. I hope it continues. Her 2 best friends are not in her class but other friends are. There are two girls who want to be her friend but they gossip and make fun alot and she doesn't like being around them anymore. One is in her class. I hope the other isn't. Over all it should be a good year. When we went to buy school supplies she told me "I love the way my school smells" Thalk about sensory issues!
