I was told today (by a teacher ) that Jared is too unorganized and hasnt handed in his makeup work. He also is wasting time. WELL DUH ! They know I sit there while he does the homework so the fools know it is done. I asked if they had asked him for it...NO. I asked if they had signed or checked his assignment book last week. NO I asked if they checked the purple homework folder that they had been told about previously...NO Its not their job. (according to the 504 it is) They are not going to go even one step beyond their blasted job to collect makeup work and that includes even asking him for it. He is unorganized ....well go yell it from the mountain tops...like we dont know it or something. I just came off a four hour homework jag because he GOT NOTHING done while with THEM today AGAIN. During study hall they had him helping another kid with math. Friday they had him cleaning the science room. Tomorrow they are all getting the makeup work that has been in the folder for days and they are getting it before school from Jared and ME..they are also getting told from here on out to ASK him for it if they want it. I can only help the organizational thing so far..the 504 is suppose to allow for a certain amount of that. If they need to be told what adhd consists of one more time I will do that again too. I swear to God that these educated morons we call teachers in this town havent got the common sense of a prune pit. They know what adhd consists of and just dont care... someday carma will definitley bite them on the back side really hard. If Jared was a perfect student who was organized and always able to be his own keeper ...I dont think he would be adhd... what dont they get . They say it and try to make it like it is all MY fault and I am doing my job all wrong..that makes me angry. Atleast I make him do something that is more than they bother to do. Okay I am done pissing in the wind...I feel better...did I say that Bobo quit smoking a week ago today and we are all nervous wrecks here. (He has smoked for 30 years ) I am supposed to keep everything quiet and relaxing .... yeah right. ;D ;D ;D

Don't you just hate it! You come home from working all day, have a mountain of laundry to do, and then you have to do the @$# teacher's job! 'Then you end up just doing the assignment, because it's so darn late and you just want to do something and get the darn thing done because the teacher calls you and blames you when he done's turn it in. I just wish they would limit the assignments to only worthwhile ones. Reading logs for 6th graders, come on!... I've calmed down now... I wish the teaher would think of the parents once in a while...

So, who do you report to when the 504 is not being followed? It sounds like you should file an official complaint.

I would definitely take a copy of the 504 with me. And extras for them. Give them two weeks to start following it and then pop a letter off to the superintendant and the special education coordinator at the superintendants office. AT that point haven given them a copy, you know they have it, they know what THEY agreed to do to help him with this problem, YOU have held up your end of the deal, this is a team effort, not your effort. Let's work together to get this problem solved.. if not.. Denise PS if you need info or ideas on how to handle them trampling on your son's rights.. see wrightslaw.com and try the advocacy tutorial at www.tourettesyndrome.net(there are some good form letters in that as well)

I swear to God that these educated morons we call teachers in this town havent got the common sense of a prune pit. Obviously, these people are a few cards short of a full deck in the first place. Who in their right mind would go back to school for another ? years after being subjected to it compulsory for 12 years. THEY were persecuted for so many years that they are now sadists who persecute for revenge.

I raised cain in the office this morning...I realize that the poor secretarydidn't do it but they wouldn't let me at the teachers this time so I gave the principal an ear full. I also wrote a NASTY note in his assignment book about accomplishing something besides tutoring and janitorial duties. He actually came home with some of his homework done. ;D I hate to be a with them all the time (not that they dont deserve it) but it wears me out. Today Jared had kids throw his pants and shoes up on the lockers in gym where he couldn't reach them. (evidently because he is too skinny to wear boxers and wears white underwear) Kids can be soooo rude sometimes. Jared in the meantime is very pissed like I always say another day another battle. When it gets warm all these boys will want to be best buds and play together. ;D I think I will let this battle pass.

Kids can not only be rude they can be cruel to each other too....but you are right mothercat...there are some things our kids have to work out themselves.

Warning.... Organization skills! What is the deal? My kids' teachers are always harping on their lack of organization skills. How many 6-yo's have neat desks (especially since she can't read [LD] to organize)?? I didn't start to get really organized until I was nearly an adult (technically, I was an adult - in college), and they expect first graders to have organization skills?? I just don't get it. I remember twice a year (maybe more) our teachers bringing in the huge trash cans so the kids could clean out their desks. I remember having so much paper in the bottom of my locker in hs that my books were at knee-height! LOL ;D I remember it being a BIG deal when I cleaned up my room - I would make a special show of it to my mom and dad. When the principal told me we had to work on DS' organization skills, I wrote back and told her that organization and adhd are mutually exclusive. These teachers don't want to have to take time to do anything to help our kids, so it all falls to us. Both DS and DD got minuses on their report cards for returning library books ontime. That's my fault; I can never remember what they took out and when they're due. The fact that they have a system where library (phys ed, music, art, etc.) is not the same day every week doesn't help, either. I love them always saying our kids need to be more responsible, take ownership, blah, blah, blah. How many 6 or 9 year olds (without adhd) do that?? Heck, I know a lot of EXECUTIVES who don't do that!! Enough. Suffice to say BTDT, too! Kris

I used to get checks in the citizenship part of my report card for "lacks self control" Not very many kids have it anyway, let alone an ADHD/dyslexic kid. The teachers thought my 'poor self control" came from being from a single parent home.
