OK, you're going to laugh, but the Slimfast Plan.... yeah , the "shake in the morning, shake at lunch" is what did it for me many, many years ago. I was even featured on their website once as a Success Story. I put on alot of weight with my first husband and when I divorced him mad up my mind to get it off. I started doing the shake for breakfast, shake for lunch thing along with a piece of fruit, carrot sticks, or celery, then eating a sensible dinner. I added in at least 30 minutes of brisk walking a day, and before to long, I had lost about 45 pounds. That was ten years ago, and it is still gone and I still do my Slimfasts from time to time. Whenever I notice a few pounds sneaking back on me, I go back to the routine for a week or two and nip it in the bud before it goes any further. Nowadays they have the meal bars, snack bars, and even pasta type meals along with the shakes. They even have them in low-carb. I had a meal bar for lunch today as a matter of fact. All are very tasty. I am still an avid exerciser as I exercise five days a week. If you can't get out and walk, then buy yourself an inexpensive treadmill. You can purchase them at Walmart for as little as $200.00. Anyway, I sound like a commercial, but it works. I have a very good friend that is a great deal overweight. She started on this about a year ago and has already lost over 50 pounds. Good luck with whatever you try!

In my opinion the South Beach Diet is awesome!! You really do lose 8-13 pounds in the first two weeks. And the first week is the hardest getting over the cravings for pasta, bread etc... but once you get over that it's soooo easy. After I could reintroduce things back into my diet I really had no desire too. And you don't gain the weight back after you go to phase 2 or 3, you keep losing.
Now, I'm sure slim fast works for some people, but I hated it. The shakes were totally disgusting. It took everything I had to get them down and then keep them down. Horrible.
Good luck with your choice!!

So is south beach diet just another atkins diet? What is south beach diet?
Atkins worked for me once, but all the weight is back(and then some I have since had a baby, thus baby damage), and I am leary of doing it again... My mom had done atkins for years, and got pancreas cancer I dont know that they coinside, but it has made me fearful to try it again...
Also I did try the trimspa pills, and they seemed to work, but I got off it because I am going on vacation and dont want to have to try and take a pill before eating constantly on vacation... Maybe I will start takeing them again when we get back...

I really liked slimfast also. I never really stuck with it, but for the time I did I liked it. I am afraid of Atkins. My DH does it and I think he is a heart-attack waiting to happen. Then again, he probably isn't following all of the rules, but he's lost 50 lbs. My mom did the The Zone diet, and she had a lot of luck. That is one where you eat equal amounts of carbs and protiens. Along with that she did Sweatin' to the Oldies with Richard Simmons, goofy I know, but she went from a 22 to a 14 in about 6 months. She kept it off really well until she went nuts on take-out and now is worse off than she was. But it stayed off for about 2 years. My personal favorite, live a completely absurd lifestyle! I used to work about 50 hours a week, on third shift, right after Honey was born. I never slept or I never ate. Then I had the added stress of my MIL getting into my life, worse than Everybody Loves Raymond, and those last 60 lbs came off really fast! By the time Honey was 10 months old I weighed about 105!

You might want to try Dr. Phil's weight loss solution. Go out and buy both the book and the food guide and read up on it. I just started it two weeks ago and the first week I lost 7 lbs. I have been trying to keep up with his weight loss participants too. They have lost a lot of weight. Good luck. Let us know what you try and how well it works.

I can't say that I have gone on a specific diet, only because I can't lose weight(easliy). Honestly, I wish I could, but I have lost dress sizes doing the Sweatin to the oldies. I went from a size 16 in HS freshman year to a size 8 12th grade year. Yeah, and I lost a whole 15 lbs. whoohoo. That's the way it was after I had Tara too. I still haven't been able to get under 165 lbs. Although I have to say, I need to start sweating some more here, but the weight still stays the same.
Just a matter of moving, oh, and coffee. Studies are out that said it isn't as bad for you as they thought. The caffine can kick start your metabolism. Kaiti

Sugarbusters. Basically, you cut out or at least cut back on foods with refined sugar, white flour. That means, no potatoes, no pastas, no sugar in your coffee, no bread. It's amazing. I have lost 11 lbs. and several inches off my hips and waist, especially my bust, which unfortunately didn't need to happen! I'm working on the second 10 lbs. which is not as easy but it's wonderful to feel your clothes become looser and to get into things you haven't been able to in several years. Starting to see a flatter tummy! Yahoo! Order the Sugarbusters cookbook from amazon.com. It's only a few dollars and the recipes are good.
I've been very pleased. Good luck to you!

OH, it's not a diet, but I noticed something that I haven't done for a while that I used to do ALL the time. STRETCH....YES STRETCH. It did help my inner thighs when I would sit on the floor and do the dread full touch our toes and then spread your legs, like you are tryin go do a stradle, and reach over your head to the opposite knee. Another thing, I would lay on my back while watching tv, and breath deep in and out, making sure that my stomach moved up and down with the breathes. It might not seem like a lot, but then you suck it in, or put some heavy weights on your stomach and try to left them. Just m,ake sure they dont roll off you stomach on hit the floor or your chin :oI've done that before.
WATER WATER WATER Kaiti That and windmills for the mid section.

I had gastric by-pass (RNY) in december and have lost 82 lbs to date and 10 pant sizes. thats a super loss for only 15 weeks now. I have tried every diet on earth and mars, yet failed everyone of them. I now can say i shop in the skinny wenches section instead of plus sized. Its a life changing surgery, and I bless the doctor who invented it. I havent weighed this much in over 25 years.

OK-I am not a very good example of a diet in progress however, my mother who just turned 81 has lost over 70 lbs. How did she do it? Simple-she simply counted calories. Nope she didn't weigh foods or eliminate any foods or cut out certain foods then re-enter them into her diet nor did she spend money on shakes or joining what she calls the "weight loss cults." She simple set her caloric intake each day between 1,200 and 1,500 calories of whatever she wanted to eat, she walks 30 minutes 3 times a week and is in perfect health. And, yes, she even eats a snickers bar or hersheys chocolate or a piece pie if she chooses. She doesn't call it a die-t, she calls it a live-it. And live-it she does. She can walk circles around all 8 of her kids and most of her grandkids! Moral of the story, eat what you want, when you want-only remember--MODERATION!

Hi
I know ´am totally old-fashioned but; exercise, exercise, and BBW you mom has the right idea; eat less than you use, give some break every now and then, have some delicatie´s, just adjust your next day so youll eat a little lighter.
I know this is slow way, but effective. For one clearly (pathologicaly)overweight, this is not the best way, but if you have to loose some weight, then it´ll work.
Soem have found good help from "weight watcher´s" or other similar group´s..... there are many way´s to do it. GOOD LUCK!!!

I have started making smaller portions of my meals and I am walking at least 2miles on the treadmill everyday-so far. But what are windmills? I do need to firm up the midsection and my upper arms. Have a peaceful day. Christina

OK stand iin place with your feet about shoulder lenghth apart and just twist. Keep your feet on the ground and make sure you only move at the waist. You can also do those reaches over the top of your head to the other side, just make sure your not in an akward position, or you'll throw out you back. Stretch before and after to warm and cool the muscles properly and avoid strains.
