Hello dear ADHD Support Family! Thanks to all the well wishers for my birthday Saturday. I posted about this on that thread, but wanted to make a separate one as well...
My mom is not doing too well and is in need of prayers. To make a loooong story as short as possible, she did not get a very fair deal health wise and battles with many things. There is not a day that goes by that she isn't sick or hurting in some way. I have said for a long time now that she is no longer living, she is just "existing".
She has heart disease, muscular distrophy (in the beginning stages), and diabetes (not to mention a couple other things). She is a dialysis patient and started doing it at home about a month and a hlaf ago. She has had several angioplasties and two years ago on Thanksgiving day underwent quadruple bypass surgery.
She was supposed to be going to Birmingham, AL at the end of the month for a five day hospital stay to be diagnosed for a possible kidney transplant. As a preliminary test due to her heart history, she went Thursday morning (my 9th anniversary) for a routine heart cath to rule out any problems there before the trip. Well, they found two blockages much to their surprise. It was only then that she revealed sheepioshly that she has been having "a few chest pains the last couple weeks". She was then transferred to another hospital here by ambulance to undergo immediate angio and have two stents put in. One of the blockages was in one of the new bypass "arteries" created by the surgery just two years ago.
Her heart doc told us her long-term prognosis was not good. He bought her "some time" he said but he didn't see no more than two to five years tops. The bypass he put the stent in was completely occluded and he said if the stent doesn't hold it she could be facing a major heart attack and another bypass surgery. I don't think she is strong enough to handle that again. So, I'm asking for prayers from all of you. I have long prepared myself to not have my mother around much longer, but there are some in this family that just couldn't handle it. My prayer is for His will to be done, and I know she would at least be happy and out of pain with Him. I ask you all to pray the same and that if it is His will to take her home soon, or if He waits these two-to five years that he makes my sister and our kids strong enough to handle it.
God bless you all, and thanks for always being here!
