This post was inspired by Honeysmom's post in Education called Great at Math or Reading. It has kinda morphed into favorite TV shows. So it gave me an idea. So what is your favorite movie and why? Also, what is your favorite TV show and why? I'll start... Favorite Movie... The Breakfast Club. It's my favorite because even though all of the characters are so radically different from each other when they start detention, by the end of the day, they all realize that they aren't so different after all, and they all understand and accept each other a little better. Awwww... GROUP HUG Favorite TV show... Case Studies in Forensic Science, The New Detectives. Wow, it amazes me how scientists can solve crimes with so little evidence. I once saw a show where they proved a guy had been in a grove of trees where his murdered girlfriend was found. He claimed he hadn't done it or even been there and they couldn't find a shred of physical evidence to prove otherwise. After the crime they had searched his truck and found some seed pods in the back. They actually got a botanist to do the world's first tree DNA and proved that the seed pod's came from the tree that the body was found under. When confronted with the evidence (which was circumstantial and really only proved that he was lying about being there) he admitted to killing her. If I ever had any intention (which I don't) of committing the "perfect" crime, that show alone would scare me out of it. I'd forever be looking over my shoulder waiting for the guys in labcoats to arrive.

I have several favorite movies. My first favorit is Toy Story. Yes the kids cartoon. I just think it was one of the best movies ever. Maybe I'm still a kid at heart?!?!? Second......hmmm.....let's see.....Probably Dances With Wolves. Not sure why. Just loved the movie. I have to agree on the TV shows. I love any show dealing with crime and forensics. A&E's American Justice, FBI Files, The System, etc. Don't know what it is about those types of shows, but I really enjoy them.

TV exists beyond the Disney channel and cartoon network?
I, too, love to watch the documentaries on forensic science and mysteries that were mentioned. I also like City Confidential. I guess it is the peace officer in me. I love all the ghost and haunting shows that come on around halloween.
I used to like the how-to decorating shows, but with all the unfinished home projects around here it has become a nagging reminder to get to work.
I used to like Third Watch, ER, etc., but it has become so dramatic that I started feeling depressed after watching them. I usually watch shows now that make me laugh. I do like the Sharon Osborne show for that reason.
I absolutely hate reality TV!!! But, I will confess the simple life had me laughing .
Movies: The Italian Job is a recommendation. Anything with Harrison Ford. Old romantic comedies from the 50's and 60's.

Dad2b;
Wow! What a great question? I know the tv shows that are my favorite are Law and Order(All of them) and west wing.
The Movies I will say it depends on who is in the movie but I do Like to watch Jack Nicholson, Meg Ryan, Diane Keaton, Ed Burns Movies because they have a intellectual base to them, and Goldie Hawn, so you would have to expect I am a little boring with movies.
During the day we do watch Spongebob and Stanley alot
Have a great day Christina

Oooh, I'd have to say that my new favorite movie is Pirates of the Carribean. Anyone seen it? I loved it! I have never been a big Johnny Depp fan, but after that movie, I'm hooked. He really gets into that role!
As far as TV goes, I really don't watch it faithfully, I'd rather curl up with a good book. But when I bother to watch I like Alias, Jennifer Garner rocks! I also like that new cop show 10-8.

Haven't seen any movies lately, or tv for that matter. I am buried in about half a dozen self improvement books for everything in my life. Anyway, if there is a movie I turn to when there is nothing else to do it would have to be "Babe". Just something about a talking pig. I don't faithfully watch any tv show, but usually like shows like "engineering disasters", "modern marvels", my wife does not like them, so I don't get to watch much tv. Miles

I forgot the why part. Breakfast Club is pretty much the same reason as Dad2Brooke. We were soldiers - because it wasnt a love/war movie. It was "real". Charmed - sisterly bond and its a fun show Animal cops - I am an animal lover - I like to see them get the bad guys.

Being a veteran, I love the war/military movies. One of my favorites is We were soldiers. Christine, US Navy all the way!!! "We Were Soldiers" really got to me as well. The scene with the telegrams really tore me up. I keep thinking that could have been my wife. "A Few Good Men" was awesome as well. "You want me on that wall, you need me on that wall. My existence, while grotesque to you, saves lives." Gives me chills.
