Ok, I don't get it. After you read a post the ball turns blue? Am I understanding that correctly? You know, those little file pictures with the balls on them that are on the index page where the main topics are. This is the way to tell if you've read a post so you can keep up with knowing when something is new? I must be misunderstanding because it's not happening. How do you tell when there is a new post you haven't read yet other than trying to remember the time you last checked?
I hope I am explaining it correctly.
Barry, don't you dare make any jokes about this.

Forget Barry... Must not make joke..... Must regain composure...... Whew!!! On my machine the ball that you are talking about is blue if there is a new post since the last time I opened topic area. Another way to tell is on the right hand side of the main topic area it records the last person and time to post on the inside. When I have been inside the area regardless of opening any of the posts and then come back out, the ball is then grey. Once inside the topic area, if you have not opened a post since the last time someone posted to it, then there will be a blue oval new on the left hand side of the post title.

Too funny, Ohmama! Is this the "blue balls" that you are talking about? As you can see, on my computer, it actually shows up as "NEW"! See, I took your post seriously!

Lurk, Ok, I know it sounds funny. I couldn't resist it, but I was serious about not knowing how it all works. You are showing me the blue oval "new" sign. I was asking about the blue balls on the little file folders that's on the main index page. I can't believe I was the only one who wanted to know about this?
I guess it's a guy thing. Or maybe I'm just too much of a blond?

Where did you guys find these? ohmama, please see the "How to put a picture in a post" thread located in the "How To" section. That tells you how to do it. One thing I don't believe I mentioned in it is that you can right click on any picture you see and select "save picture as". That is how I get all of my stuff. I see a picture I like, then save it, upload it to Ripway, then link to it from my post. Let me know if you need any more info.

oh mama, I must be truly, truly blonde, because I still can't find the BLUE BALLS on my screen. (I am female, left handed, blonde, polish, and my parents are from West Virginia... so maybe that is why I am having such a hard time!) I also live with DH and three DS's, so you think I might have a better chance of finding the blue ball than some!
What I have a problem with, is suddenly half of my smiley guys just show up as a blank box with a lttle dot in the middle. I don't know what the expression is that someone put into their post. So I feel really blonde reading their posts!
I will keep my out for the blue balls, since all I can find right now are grey ones.
Thanks for all the hints everyone.
Laurie

tridlette, right now alot of the smileys are not working. I suspect it has something to do with bandwidth and administrative functions. I am sure it will be cleared up very soon now that Veronika is recovering from the flu. The grey ones that you speak of will be blue home.ripway.com/2003-11/37306/blue.gif[/img] when the section it is beside contains new posts that have occured since the last time you opened it. Once you open it, the ball turns grey. home.ripway.com/2003-11/37306/grey.gif[/img]All of the balls are located down the left hand side of the main "ADHD support" screen. Hope this helps.

Hey Dad, The other way to add a picture (and the way I do it) is with HTML code. Right click on the image/picture and select "Properties" (it is usually the last one on the list) Then when that box opens, I copy the info in address field and put it between [ img ] [ /img ] tags with the spaces removed In the case of the laughing green smilies... [ img] home.ripway.com/2003-11/37306/biglaugh.gif[ /img] take away the extra space between the [ and img and you get this...
