DH reminded me of Sissy Bars on the back of bicycles with banana seats. Since his birthday is Friday, maybe I can find a sissy bar for him. He brought out his klackers for me tonight. Did anyone else roll their skirts up after they got to the bus stop so Mom wouldn't know how short it really was? Do you remember lunch at school was only a quarter and you could get a milk for 4 cents? I remember sitting on my Grandad's feet, 35 years ago tonight, on his 78th birthday, watching the first man walk on the moon, and listened to him reminisce about his childhood and seeing the story of the KittyHawk success! We can call this feeling old, but I prefer to think of it as recalling history in the making!

Does your chewing gum lose it's flavor on the bedpost overnight?
And your mother says don't chew it so you swallow it in spite.
And you catch it on your tonsils...

4 cents for a milk is sort of ringing a bell. We lived in Washington State for awhile (when I was about 8 or 9) and we were given plastic milk pouches. You had to jab them with a pointy straw. Anyone else have those? I think I remember a scoop of ice cream at Thrifty's being about 5 or 10 cents. I remember the day/night the man walked on the moon too. I was about 4 years old and my dad walked me into the back yard and told me to look at the moon, and explained that someone was walking on it. I had no idea what he was talking about, but I still remember it. Note: I stopped taking Ritalin last week...can you tell? I'm not on fire with information like I was a couple of weeks ago. Bummer.

Grandad was amazed... he remembered the news of the flight of the first Wright Flyer in Kitty Hawk. "So much has happened in my lifetime." He lived to see the first space shuttle!

Okay - you guys have just brought me down memory lane! I am laughing so hard!
Andy Gibb - I have to tell you that to this day - if I catch the biography on his life I get all weepy! I remember sitting there looking at the album covers and playing them over and over and over and over . . . I ordered all the special edition TigerBeats on the Bee Gees and Andy Gibb! I had the same poster, Christie - and of course the one that came with the album of him all in white.
Oh the roller rink. I remember that green rink with the big disco ball overhead and they would have all girl skate, couples skate, girls pick couple skate . . .
Land of the Lost - I remember when they remade that show - it just wasn't the same. How can you recreate the sleestacks (sp?)?!
Of COURSE I had a mood ring! Got it for my birthday! I still look longingly at them in the stores now! Dr. Scholl's - you just weren't cool if you didn't have those! And to my great horror I had a shag cut my the majority of my childhood.
How many people remember the bicentennial. It was like our parents were so afraid we weren't going to "get" what was going on! I still have some necklace on the bicentennial my grandmother gave me and a special bicentennial coin . . .
It's true - my mother DID make popcorn (in that metal electric popcorn maker) every year when the Wizard of Oz would come on TV. (Of course I always thought it was a black and white movie because we didn't get a color tv until 1985).
Donny & Marie - I LOVED that show - I still have one of their albums!!! And who dared miss an episode of Love Boat! (And yes, I DID think Gopher was cute!)
I remember when we watched the very first Little House on the Prarie! I wanted to be Laura so badly! And oh, that Nellie Olson!!
Shrinky Dinks! I still have some of my useless creations!!! I still remember the smell of the markers and watching them in the oven!
Remember the slumber parties where we would try to put each other in trances and gosh, darnit if we didn't believe we did . . . "light as a feather, stiff as a board"
My grandmother gave me a vinyl jacket that looked like the Fonz's - and tomboy me - did I think I was "ayyyyyy" cool!
And those prairie skirts!! Remember those?
And Judy Blume! "Oh God, It's Me Margaret" made me want my period so badly (who knew? she made it sound so cool) - and who could forget "Forever"!! Ralph - I remember reading that book - we knew a kid named Ralph and I just couldn't look at him!! The next best thing definitely were the VC Andrews books!
Dynamite! OMG - I always remember my Tigerbeats but I DID have a subscription to Dynamite! I completely forgot about that magazine!!
Indian Earth and Bonnie Bell (remember how BIG those lip smackers were?)! Oh how could I forget all of these things? I can still smell the witchhazel in Seabreeze!
And spyrograph, lite bright and spin art! Anybody have the magic rocks - the different colored crystals that grew overnight in water?
And who else had Kid Power sneakers - I know that they made me jump higher than any of you!!!
And did anyone have those purses with the wooden handle? You could button the "covers" on? I have - to this day - my wooden-handled purse and about 10 different covers for that thing!!
Does anyone remember the Honey Patch kids? And the kids today think that Hello Kitty is in? Who remembers way back when Hello Kitty was IT!!
Does anyone remember the show with Semour the Seamonster? And Evil Knievel was the man! Remember when he crashed?
Okay - I've gotta stop!
One more - who had a label maker - and with the funky flowered tape?

I'LL ANSWER IN CAPS--TOO MANY GOOD THINGS IN YOUR POST.
Andy Gibb--but, of course. LEIF ERICKSON, TONY DEFRANCO ("HEARTBEAT IT'S A LOVEBEAT"), AND CHRISTOPHER ATKINS--OMG!
Oh the roller rink. I remember that green rink with the big disco ball overhead and they would have all girl skate, couples skate, girls pick couple skate . . . ME TOO. COUPLES SKATE WAS EVERYTHING.
Dr. Scholl's - you just weren't cool if you didn't have those! NO DOUBT, AND I WOULD ALWAYS STEP OFF THE SIDE OF THE SHOES WHEN THEY WERE NEW AND KILL MY FEET ON THE SHARP WOOD.
How many people remember the bicentennial. It was like our parents were so afraid we weren't going to "get" what was going on! I still have some necklace on the bicentennial my grandmother gave me and a special bicentennial coin . . . OH YAH, AND REMEMBER THE PRESIDENTIAL PHYSICAL FITNESS AWARDS IN SCHOOL? I HAVE ONE FROM FORD AND CARTER.
It's true - my mother DID make popcorn (in that metal electric popcorn maker) every year when the Wizard of Oz would come on TV. (Of course I always thought it was a black and white movie because we didn't get a color tv until 1985). THIS WAS A HUGE DEAL. WE DID THIS TOO..WE GOT A 9" COLOR TV IN 1976. JIFFY POP WAS A TOTAL LUXURY-SPECIAL OCCASIONS ONLY.
Donny & Marie - I LOVED that show - I still have one of their albums!!! And who dared miss an episode of Love Boat! (And yes, I DID think Gopher was cute!) YEP AND THE SONNY & CHER SHOW. (HEE HAW, IF I WAS DESPERATE)

Indian Earth and Bonnie Bell (remember how BIG those lip smackers were?)! Oh how could I forget all of these things? I can still smell the witchhazel in Seabreeze! YEP, YEP, YEP
Anybody have the magic rocks - the different colored crystals that grew overnight in water? ALWAYS WANTED THOSE!
Does anyone remember the show with Semour the Seamonster? And Evil Knievel was the man! Remember when he crashed? I THINK IT'S SIGMUND AND THE SEA MONSTERS. MY FAV. I LOVED WATCHING FAMILY AFFAIR TOO.
One more - who had a label maker - and with the funky flowered tape? YEP! TOOK FOREVER TO SPELL OUT MY NAME.
