I always get tight pants. Hubby says I have a nice butt I do have a pair that I am bound and determined to get back into. Trying to think of how to explain them, UM I have a picture of me in them, but if I put it on here, I'd probably just get an 'x'. They are black and bleched up the front and down the back. They have buttons holding th esides together, and about too much thigh right now pops out of them One day I'll get there and embarrase the heck of the kids ;D

I did the tuned up collar thin w/ polo shirts, and oxfords w/ the collars that buttoned down. Or in the winter the "layered look, a turtleneck with a collared shirt over that and a sweater over that. anyone do the Madonna or Cindy Lauper "look"

Actually, I bought that after I joined the Navy, and the parachute pants as well. There was no way on earth my parents would have bought them. And Brocksmom, yeah I did the Madonna and Cyndi Lauper thing too. Ok, kidding.

A bunch of the stuff listed for the 70s carry over into the 80s...people need to be replaced for me, but other than that, a lot of it is still good.

just found this thread
As I was reading, I wondered if anyone would mention the smock tops. Sue beat me to it. Also platform shoes; too bad I don't still have any of those; they would fit in nicely now! That's ok though; I don't want to be taller than DH.
I had a dress with Holly Hobby print on it--a maxi it was called then, as opposed to a mini dress.

LOL!!!!!!!!! ;D
I wanted the Dorthy cut, but for some reason my mom never got it for me. Got the Farrah cut in jr. high but we live on the coast and I have frizzy hair--it was a disaster. Ditto with my shag. I had to use a curling iron that you put water in and give it several really harsh shots to even come close to getting the look. I had big weenie rolls on the sides of my head. Now, we have round brushes..Ahhhh. Also went through a phase of wanting "wispy bangs" like Cheryl Tiegs. Next I was obsessed with wanting to be Cheryl Ladd.
I hated gauchos, but I was so skinny that the only pants that would fit me were Dittos--the ones with the big horseshoe shape in the back. They were a HUGE deal at the time. I had to BEG and BEG for a pair of baby blue ones. They were outrageously expensive at the time and I wore them every day. I thought I was extremely cute in them.
I made (and wore) a wraparound skirt in home ec.
When my mom got divorced, I guilted her into buying me a baby blue satin jacket with a matching pair of shorts. I still feel a little guilty about it.
The game was Bloody Mary. It scared the crap out of me in the girls bathroom. How come everyone knows about that game? LOL Ouija boards were a big deal, but I wasn't allowed to play that either. Discovered a board stashed up in my mom's closet years later. hahaha
I died laughing when I read about the Robert Redford crush. dreamed that I kissed Robert Redford when I was 13. It was unthinkable. I was embarrassed when I woke up. Guess what?? I dreamed I was making out with him last night!!!!! AHAHAHAHAA!!!! He was a good kisser too. I even dreamed that he is his current age of 66.
Had a dream about Chachi, cause I had a big thing for him for awhile too. Fantasized routinely about Christopher Atkins from Blue Lagoon.
Whoever heard of shopping at Nordstrom at the time? Are you kidding? This is entirely a phenomenon of the 80s. Everyone I know shopped at Gemco or KMart and you put things on layaway.
I had a set of klackers. I was so excited, even though I knew they were against the law.
I would go to my friend's house and she would let me kiss her Leif Garrett poster and didn't make me feel stupid about it. My parents wouldn't buy that "trash." They routinely bought The Enquirer.
Our house was always stocked with Fresca.
I used Hershey Cocoa tanning butter that looked like a chocolate bar and QT sunless lotion. My mom had a pair of fancy Foster Grant sunglasses.
I could not believe my EARS when I heard what "Afternoon Delight" meant. I felt so nasty.
Rumor had it that the F word was used a lot in Saturday Night Fever. I was shocked to find out that my mom had actually gone to the theatre to see the movie.
My first kiss (and makeout) was to the very first episode of SNL. I was wearing lace-up jeans and wedge, rainbow colored flip flops. It was the best day of my life. I crypitcally wrote about it in code on a piece of paper and I still have the paper to this day. My best friend (his sister) found it one time and asked what it meant. I acted like I had no idea, so she threw it away. I almost had a heart attack and retrieved it when she wasn't looking.
I was totally addicted to the show Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman. So was my mom.

I had a set of klackers. I was so excited, even though I knew they were against the law. Holy Moly I forgot all about klackers. That was a toy that you just knew was gonna hurt someone. Either the glass balls were gonna shatter and put out youreye, or someone was gonna get taken down bolo-style while trying to run away from you. What a great toy! klacK-klaCK-klACK-kLACK-KLACK-CRACK! MY EYE!

hee hee hee hee - yah Klackers. Totally controversial.
Oh yah, I not only owned roller skates with metal wheels that I rode all around the loosely paved roads of our neighborhood with absolutely 0 fear and a record of 0 falls. I found a lady who knew how to make pom poms and she made me two really cool red ones to put on the front. I don't think life got much better than that at one point.
I wish I was easy to please these days.
Book to Read: Flowers in the Attic (freaked me out that some people were so into it) I preferred sneaking into the library and reading "All You Wanted to Know about Sex but Were Afraid to Ask" ;D
My first 8 tracks: Grease Ronco Hits including: Run Joey Run, Laughter in the Rain, and Wildfire (course it made me cry every time).
Movies I Saw in the Theatre: Jaws (scared the poprocks out of me) Earthquake Grease Rocky Taxi Driver (sneaked out of the house to the midnight show)

rontflol!!! Don't forget Jerimia (sp) Johnson. I LOVED Robert Redford in that! Klackers! I forgot about those too! My shag was terrible too! I ended up growing it all out and when you look at our year book everybody, girls and boys, had long hair parted down the middle! I heard Wildfire yesturday and about died. I loved Run Joey Run too! also Clouds in my Coffee was a fave danced with Bernie Mallon to it. Remember in gym class having to change into those horrible one piece gym outfits!!!! Too awful! In high school when you smoked you had to hide from the teachers and other students becaause you might get expelled and pregnant girls weren't allowed to come to school. Having a "sitdown" to protest something was major! It was also "cool" to have greasy hair and wire rimmed glasses. Kinda a throw back to the 60's I think. Alice Cooper was also big with my cousin and we considered her wild!! AHHHH memory lane.....
