Oh boy. Klackers--I have a confession; I STILL HAVE MINE! I didn't know the name, but as soon as you started talking about them, I knew that's the thing that I have stuffed somewhere in my hall closet. Maybe I should take a picture and post it just to prove I'm not lying.

Anyone remember DIPITY DO? This was something you put in your hair to keep the curl. You had to use curlers with it. this, of course, was before the curling iron. My mom used to use babby pins and put pin curls in my hair. That was in the late '60s. Forgive me...my kids tell me daily that I am Old!

Of course! I loved Dippity Do. We would use it in my pigtails to make and hold the part in my hair wickedly, analy straight.

Exactly! It was nice and crisp when you pulled the (non-coated) elastics out of your hair.
Oooh, loved "1 Adam 12, 1 Adam 12" Sonny and Cher show Kung Fu Kimba Speed Racer Electric Company Felix the Cat Casper
Wow! And, this was all before cable was anything but 4 or 5 clear channels of reception.
Remember when HBO first came out? It was free for about a week and the movies were: Carrie, The Demon Seed, and Clockwork Orange.

Heck they still show those don't they? All I see is the old Police Academy movies all time. We never had cable until 1988, we were thrilled to watch the Tyson/Holyfield fight on it, before pay per view.
When we had digital cable, I woke up on time at about 2:30 in the morning. The Electric company was on!!!!!!
I still think it's the funniest show. What did I like, Dancing on Air was after Merv Griffin, but on a different channel.
Anyone watch Creature Double Feature? We used to have the babysitter turn it on for us.

Ooh yah, Creature Feature, and Circle of Fear too.
I would LOVE to see the Electric Company!! I thought it was kind of weird at the time, but I think I would love it now. Same with Zoom! - it's the one that had that language sort of like Pig Latin -- you know. 'doo boo you boo know bo wha but i bi a bam saybay ee bing?'
Oh, we cannot forget Space Food Sticks! Remember those? They were sort of like astronaut food/candy. They looked sort of like giant tootsie rolls and they came in chocolate and strawberry (at least). They were a little on the chalky side and they were wrapped in kind of a foil-on-inside/white-wrapper-on-the-outside.
My favorite cereal - King Vitamin!!!
And remember the Imperial margarine commercial that turned the person into a king with a crown? " Da Da Da DAAAAAA!!!"
"Who wears short shorts? We wear short shorts! If you dare wear short shorts, Nair for short shorts."
"You're gonna swear you love you hair with new Clairol Herbal Essence."
"I can bring home the bacon, fry it up in a pan, and never never never let you forget you're the man. Cause I'm a woman...Enjoli (or something).
"Bain de Soleil for the central bay tan."
"Thanks for the gumball, Mickey"
;D ;D ;D ;D I'm on a roll.
Ok, I have taken Ritalin today, and so far all I have been good for is remembering useless 70s trivia! Ugh...thank goodness I have a p-doc appt. tomorrow.

One thing we can give Buttercup credit for is an excellent memory! Thanks for the stroll.... one thing I can remember along the lines of candy are the ring pops and candy necklaces! I would spend my summers at the Girl's Club and there was a little store right across the street. I would get one of those necklaces almost everyday and have the ring around my neck from wearing it until I ate it! Someone else mentioned having the satin jackets... oh yeah, as I mentioned before Andy Gibb was my idol (funny I grew up and married an Andy) and I had this one HUGE poster of him in a light blue satin jacket. One Christmas my aunt gave me one that looked just like it! Boy, I thought I was the coolest with that thing! My grandmother has a picture of me in it posing in front of the poster! hehe I remember staying up late on Saturday nights so I could see Andy on Solid Gold!

It was "Land of the Lost" of course!! I sort of obsessed wanting hair like Hollie's--imagine ME obsessed. I know...it's a stretch. The guys were kind of cute too. www.landofthelost.com/ p.s. This was on right about the time of day that Shazam!, Isis, Sigmund and the Sea Monsters, HR Puff 'N Stuff, Bugaloos, and Lidsville came on. Where the HECK were my parents? ;D Also, when I was 6 or 7 I was actually on an episode of "The Banana Splits Card Game Show." It was kind of like Bozo. My dad left me to run an errand and I bugged the crap out of him " Dad, can I be on the show?" He was like "Sure, if you can get a hold of them, you can." I don't even know if I really even knew how to use the phone yet, so I just picked it up and dialed 0. The operator laughed and found a way to put me through to the show. By the time my dad came home, I was jumping up and down and telling him when to get me to the show and where it was. teeheehee He was almost in shock, and he had to follow through. Well, of course I had the mood ring, a ViewMaster, and a Crazy 8 ball.
