I have the book Sink Reflections. It has the whole flylady process.
Oh I feel for you - been there! The good news is that once you get through it - hopefully you will be able tomaintain it! (Of course this is what I used to have trouble with in the past - but I am making progress).

Laurie, All you need it a couple of babygates. I trap little ones in my livingroom or kitchen all of the time. Although it really does not work anymore since the dog climbs over them and then knocks them over. Oh well...

I survived the neighbors! Turns out they paid my 11 yr. old to sit at their house with my Nextel after the kids were asleep. And DH cleaned the cellar, so nobody left there. They played pool and darts all evening. The girls spent 2 minutes checking out my new kitchen, noticed that there was a place to sit in my living room and cheered me on. They know that I am home schooling and realize that I have made great strides since August with the house!
But yes, the LEGO's are still on the floor, and my desk needs some hot spot attention. 15 minutes at a time. The party was a success in that one of the men knew where the salvation army drop off bin is at. I have had 5 rubbermaid totes in my car for a week trying to find a place to drop the stuff. That will be done today!
I feel the little wing buds starting to grow!!!
Thanks for the prayers!
Laurie

Glad to hear it went well. It probably helps that you got some encouragement from the other ladies. It is nice when people understand why you have a mess. A friend of mine works full-time outside of the home. She has 2 girls 2 y/o and 3 months. She has no time, obviously. She told us (another friend and I) that when she washes clothes she puts them into a seperate basket for everyone and does not fold them. After she left, my other friend (who has 4 month old, 2y/o and 4y/o) said to me, that is crazy, she is just lazy! I could not beleive it! My friend with the 3 kids is a SAHM so she is there all day and has all three kids on the exact same nap time she has 4 hours (not kidding all 3 sleep from 12-4 everyday!) to do housework. Point being, it does help when others understand why things get disorganized. Makes you feel a little less guilty. Some people just do not get it.

you're all making a compelling case but I gotta say the last thing I need is a bunch of emails reminding me all the household stuff I didn't get to. Right now my focus is school and IEPs. The house can go hang. I'll get it cleaned up in time to put out the Christmas decorations. DH is planning to drag out all that crap -- I mean meaningful memorabilia -- on Friday.

Don't fret Sierra, I haven't been able to get past the clean sink thing and I've been working at it for at least a month now. And besides, I think my husabnd is sending all of my reminder e-mails to the trash before I can get to them. He's terrified of my "acts of neatness". Oh well, maybe when the kids move out..... Susan

I didnt pay anything to sign up, (the link was above I believe in one of the posts)...
And I still havent done my first wittle baby step... I need a housekeeper!!! Because I try to keep up on the "regular" cleaning, I just cant find time to shine my sink... Not to mention baths, dinner, homework, dishes etc all of that done in 2 hours time before bed... (I get home from work about 6:00 and would LIKE kids in bed by 8:00)...
So long story short I am still deleting the emails... Sd goes to her mom's this weekend, I have high hopes!!!

Thanks, I'll check it out. Hubby and I have separate e-mail accounts, and I really don't think he'd mind having a tidier house, unless it involves him working. ;D
Thanks, Kaiti

I started Flylady a couple of weeks ago. I can't say my sink is shining every day, but the Christmas cards are done, my bedroom looks great, my computer desk is in great shape, laundry is only about two loads behind at a time (pretty good for two teenagers, husband, and sloppy 6 year old), cookie and candy recipes all printed and ready to go, 5 bags of stuff gone, and dinner has been on time.
Hot spots are my hardest because family members just keep piling it up everytime I have cleaned them.

Then we would just be stepping over it like we are now,lol
Baby Steps, gotta go finish the rest of the dishes, and then I will SHINE!! Kaiti
