Well, I spoke with the school psych today about what testing Taylor will have to qualify for the IEP (he already has the 504). Answer - None! That is, the school is going to accept the Dev. Peds report that he has LD in reading and automatically issue him an IEP! Hooray! I guess the trick is to get to them when they are overwhelmed and don't have time to bother! Taylor is top on the list for an IEP as soon as they get around to issuing them. That delay doesn't bother me because we really want the IEP in place for NEXT year, when he attends middle school. Finally! Some cooperation from the school! Kris

Hey Kris... I just found out this week, that if your kid has a " Diagnosis" ADHD, LD, whatever... you can get Medical Assistance to pay the bills that aren't covered by your insurance! That from a Lehigh valley mom! Sounds like it might be worth it for the $$$ Dev. Peds. Dr.
Great news for T! I am glad that he has such a great mom to keep things going in the right direction for him!
EDIT TO SAY... M.A. is NOT limited by your income level either! It doesn't matter what your income level or your current insurance company! It really sounds like it is worth checking into!

Yes, Linda, I'm very aware of that. The IEPs will be issued next/this month (Oct.). He is already getting all the accomodations, though, through the 504. If I don't get the IEP by 10/15, I'll be in their faces, that's for sure. I'm just glad Taylor doesn't have to go through any more testing to "prove" he needs the IEP.
Trid - Whom do I contact about MA? Is there a website or something? I definitely want to look into that. I just upped the amount of $ I put in my medical reimbursement account, but of course, that just means I save the tax... any more info will be GREATLY appreciated! Kris

Great news Kris Definately make sure to stay on top of everything. I finally got around to my filing cabinet, so for each grade I keep all pertinent information. Conduct reports, report cards, etc. That way I can just whip things out if I need them. Good Job
