Well I can stop wandering what will come next....after all their complaining and all the homework tutoring sessions ...I got the connors back from ther teachers...I want everyone to know according to the ones who filled them out ..I have a perfect child who is due to recieve sainthood , halo and wings anytiime now. One teacher flat refused and the others for some reason all think alike as their connors were duplicated. (cheater..cheater ...) Good thing I save ALL his work and tests.. the social studies teacher flat refused to do a connor... but he is the one who at the 504 meeting said "seems to me that if a child has ld's they should be in shramn school...he doesnt look like he has a problem.." Schramm school is for the severely disabled and handicapped .. When you go up against the sytem WHY do they take it out on the kid...which is basically what they are doing AGAIN.

GRRRR! Oh this is all SOOOO wrong!! .. and is a CLASSIC example of the teachers just NOT in any way "buying in" to the system!! Oh M/C I am sorry too to read this ... Homing in on the aftercare for a second ... Sam went to "After School Club" for 2-3 years when he was younger ... and LOVED it ... They did cooking and painting and drawing and played football and made things and all sorts of other fun stuff ... This I think is how the After School Clubs SHOULD be and most especially in the younger years!! In addition I assume its the same in the US as it is here in that the parents pay quite high money for this Aftercare facility? I think MORE parents need to be aware of what is REALLY happening here!!

M/C, I am sooooo sorry to hear that yoru son is an angel and ready to get inducted into the saintly programs There has got to be something that you can do to prove that he NEEDS something and they HAVE to provide it. I do know what you mean about filling out the forms and stuff. I have filled out a few. It actually took me longer then I thought because I kept second guessing myself It is great you saved all the tests and such, GOOD JOB. As far as the after school care Anne, we try to be resonable for costs. Around here it's not that "rich" persay. We have 2 different payment schedules. Option 1: pay by the day: $5.50 is a 4:30 or before pick up time.$8.00 for a pick up by 6pm. Option 2: your child stays everyday until 4:30: $80/month. If you need your child to stay until 6, it's $125 a month. Plus the mornigns are only $50 a month, so I don't think that the fees here are too outrageous. Oh anyhow good luck M/C

Mothercat,
The diagnostician for your school is the power person in this situation. Contact the county coopertive that is assigned to your school and talk to the people who are really in charge.

The county wont retest until high school. We have always had probs with this school . Last time he was tested was 5th grd and they simply said he was too smart (high Iq) and to type his work . They didnt know what dysgraphia was..I had to go to the highschool spec ed dept head and get a referral for the diag. (her classrrom was right next to my other sons latin classroom and we got to visiting during a parent meeting ). She was very nice to help. We got the 504 by the doc forcing them to do it. They called it a waste of paper. In the 3rd grade his teacher had denial and said he just needed to be broke. The doc watched him dumbfounded for ten minutes going thru his drawers , getting tangled in the mini blinds, diving uynder tables...and finally when he allowed him to leave the room to potty and had to send a search party around the building 15 minutes later...he tossed aside the schools papers and diag'd the kid adhd. He ordered the school psych to test him then and what we got was she stood outside the classroom for 20 minutes and watched him while he was medicated. She declared him normal without ever speaking to him. We have been battling this system for so long it isnt funny but in a small town it takes more than one person to get good results. They cringe when they see me coming...I have been thru five principals and 2 superintendants...I have been called names and thrown off the property...I am used to it. The school system tries to get away with things like the lousy afterschool program and fund misappropriation all the time....no one around the area has time to care. We only have one more year left with Jaredat the school till he gets to the high school. we will make it and afterwards maybe send them a card that says bite me when he graduates. No ....the avatar pic aint me...4 times a year I go burgandy /purple/ pink and until this year I have always worn my hair in a short spike. I am trying to let it grow this year and the pink/purple really stands out. I am about to give in and cut it tho... The pic for my avatar just reminded me of my pink/purple top... ;D alot... ;D Add 6 earrings , brown eyes and some freckles and a few years. ;D ;D my inner wild child has never had to be drawn out...that is why I stay in so much trouble... ;D ;D the avatar is titled "in dreams there is truth"

8-)Oh you two are so funny ;D
I tried to dye my hair burgondey before and it washed out in a week 8-)I have each of my ears peirced 5 times, so I can't yell at Tara if she wants that many.....only there...no other bpdy parts are acceptable.....until I get my belly button peirced ;D ;D
Anyhow, I do know what you mean aboiut the small town crap. Apparently the peopel that moved tothis town think tha tthey can runit over.
I DON"T THINK SO> I had the SAME super/Principal that handled us for 9 years. Now we have a Super and a Principal that can't handle what it is given.
Excuse me while I wish for the old days when nuts happen like it was supposed to. And kids were taught the way they could understand it
Sorry, just a slight rant

OTHER body parts arent so bad...I did the belly button several times when Jared was little but carrying a kid on the hip and having the ring kicked out gets to hurting after a couple times ;D ;D I have three peircings below the neck (not the belly button) ..it aint so bad...for an ADULT. Bobo and I were into body piercing a LONG time before it was popular ;D ;D ;D Has Tara tried the fake tats around the bellybutton yet ? It's apparently all the rage. ;D ;D ;D

By the way....the doctor prescribed the regular meds BUT we dont know if Kidcare insurance (provided by the state since we lost our insurance in the big pay cut last spring) will pay for meds. They told the Doc that they dont like to cover adhd meds of any kind.

One teacher flat refused and the others for some reason all think alike as their connors were duplicated. (cheater..cheater ...) Good thing I save ALL his work and tests.. Well now I have to recant ..this teacher didnt refuse to turn one in....he GAVE it to JARED. I found it in the bottom of the backpack this morning after the appointment . He let Jared read it.... The kids arent suppose to see these things..it compromises the entire process. As smart as Jared is he will no how to react next time in order to alter the outcomes during the day when they fill the paper out. It's kind of moot in a way since they dont fill them out right...but the principle of the paper is observation wihtout the child knowing your doing it. I read the principal the riot act this morning. There will be no Connors next month ...whether they were acurate or not. I also asked if Jared was such a good student then why is he getting nothing above a "c-". I told him he had better have a class on how and why they fill out Connors in the first place. What they filled out and current grades do not correlate at all. The whole thing has reflected poorly on his teaching staff and him and any other parent would probably have gone above his head. We hadnt planned on explaining the connors to Jared until highschool age when he could start maybe controlling some of his adhd himself. I guess we will move that part up a bit ...It would've been forgivable if the teacher had atleast put it in an envelope. JAred now says everybody is out to judge him. I wandered why he was such a behavior mess all weekend. Well ..I am done now ;D ;D (i only have half hour to scrub two floors and get a load of wash on before I ride to town )

???just a thought.....to try to put a sin on it. Since he already spotted the test. Talk to him about it. Let him know this kind of behavior isn't warrented and that this is what happens when he isn't behaving. Point out what the teachers' pin point. Remind him about the rules, and that the world isn't out to get him, just trying to make him a better student. That's all. Tara found Mikey's 504 in the file last year. She asked what it was. So I told her it was modifications to help Mikey learn better without getting into trouble for being fidgety. So she proceeded with a verbal list of all the kids she thought should have one ;DIt was actually quite accurate on who needed as compared to who actually had one ???Is that a good thing or a bad thing On a side note, part of what we do at our program is to let hte kids know that if there is continued behavior problems, they will be documented and the parents will be notified. :oJust the threat usually keeps the kids at bay

MC, You shouldnt have any problems getting ADHD meds on kidcare. Illinois will give kids pretty much anything the dr prescribes. Its the adults that have problems getting their meds.

That's good to here. Especially when it is affecting his learning, and if the school is playing hot potato placing blame or just tossing it around waiting for you to shut up..........don't do it. I put an extra peice of coal in there for ya.....it should burn for a while
