:DCelebrate!! School starts on Monday......woooohooooo!! This morning we went to meet the teacher and I had to walk away with a laugh. She's very, very young! I hope they know what they were doing when they put him in her class. He HAS to have someone strong and she has to get her bluff in on him early. Should I tell her that in an email or should I just let her find out for herself??? What to do...what to do? I've already made the decision that I don't intend to have a war every night over homework this year. Last year we fought and fought over it....and WHAT could he have possibly learned through that? Nothing..........except that his mother was a !

Well, hopefully, she already knows he has an IEP and she's had time to review it. I certainly don't want to rattle cages at that school till I absolutely have to!

At first thought, I was thinking give her a heads up...... never mind, Linda is righ tin teh fact that they will be looking at him WAYYYYYYYY more. There are a few kids I was warned about, but like you were saying about being a strong person, I never had anything major problems with them Let her figure him out maybe she might have that nache for him. Goodluck

Sounds like the teacher just may learn that life is full of surprises!! I wouldnt give a heads up, as far as I am concerned, the schools SHOULD be involving the new teacher at the last years IEP meeting... So it is the schools fault if the teacher doesnt know what she is in for!! LOL

Our son's new teacher taught gifted and talleted studens for about 5 years. She has been described as a 'fire cracker' full of energy and has a way of relating real life with academics. Just what Nate needs. He catches on to the basics so fast that he looks like he is distracted most of the time. That leaves plenty of time to daydream, listen to what is going on the other side of the class, and help out others. I have a feeling that this is going to be an exiciting year. Miles

If this teacher has indeed worked with the gifted and talented... you are GOLDEN! She will be the teacher giving creative assignments, and grading him as an individual, not as another cookie made from the same cookie cutter. I WANT HER for my kids!
True "teachers of the gifted" are the ones who teach a child the love of learning... she knows the kids will be asking the questions... not her! I think Nathan is going to just blossom this year if this teacher has any real interest in teaching a child who has the ability and energy to learn!
