Last week I chaperoned my son's 4th grade trip to the zoo. It wasn't just a leisurely trip. I had to corral 5 boys through the zoo so that each could fill out a worksheet on 1 mammal, 1 bird, 1 reptile, and 1 amphibian. They had to answer questions about the size, shape, color, location/size of eyes and ears, and habitat of each animal. We had 2 hrs to do this. It actually went really well! I made the boys fill out their worksheets first, then we had 1/2hr to hit the souvenir shop. Interestingly, ds was great - I had the most trouble with one boy who just could not stay on task. He kept asking to eat, shop, play, go to the petting zoo, etc. instead of doing the work. He was okay, really, but it was sooo obvious that he has ADHD (not sure if he's diagnosed, but wow!). I was so pleased that my own ds behaved beautifully the whole time. I think he was so happy that Mom took a day off to do the trip, he behaved. Actually, he does really well in general. He's on the mild end and his strattera really helps him. I'm just so glad to have seen that reinforced. Just sharing!! Kris

Oh I went on a feild trip today with the whole 7th grade class. The kids were very good and we only had to listen to the guide for a little bit. We went to a place called Sleeping Bear Dunes. We had to hike in the dunes for a little bit and then we walked along the shoreline. After lunch and seeing 2 more historical buildings we loaded back on the buses and went to the big dunes where the kids went crazy climbing the dune hills. Me?? I stayed at the bottom supervising ;D ;D ;D It was a long bus ride about 2 1/2 hrs. But it was a beautiful day and wonderful weather so I couldn't complain. Afterwards we stopped at Pizza Hut and had some pizza and pop. I have to say a Good Day was had by all!! Sleeping Bear Dunes is a really fun place to go

I did like it but it nothing compared to the Silver Lake Sand Dunes. We have been there lots of times camping and the kids always had a blast on the dunes. The weather today was just perfect and I got some sun to boot. The kids just loved running up and down the dunes and they weren't even tired~~~to be young again ;D ;D ;D
