Hi,
Anyone else's kids just "checking out" of school, already anticipating its end? Seems Taylor has just decided he's done for the year. It's been really hard to get him to do much of anything for school lately. I gave him a little slack for "spring fever," but they still have a month of school left...
Amy, too (age 7, non-adhd, but LD), has decided she hates homework and she doesn't want to do any more. Here, here! But again, there's a month of school left! Poor kid gets about 2X what her older brother gets because of the LD in reading, and she's in first grade (He's in 4th)!
Another thing - I obtained a state grant for tutoring for Taylor, but he absolutely refuses to go! What can I do to not only get him there, but ensure that he actually benefits from it?
Any ideas or experience with this?
Kris

:)Kris....yeah most of the kids at school are "checking out"...they are restless..some are acting out...and the teachers are burnt out too I actually think that the kids work has wound down too...they are not getting into anything new and the field trips are kicking in. As far as the grant for Taylor and not wanting to go....a little bribery goes a long way...whoops did I just say that? I meant motivation ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Hi Kris !! I will start at the END of your note and work backwards ..... Sam had a tutor in Primary (Elementary) school which cost us way more than we could really afford and I had HUGE problems actually "getting him there"! .... The only way it worked for us was the old "Bribery" (or to put it more nicely "Reward and Recognition") and I have to confess I fell for the "treat" once he had spent an hour with his tutor scenario !! ... It DID work ... and Sam DID go along quite happily but as soon as he came out he would always say "Come on then ... now I deserve the TREAT ?" I was never QUITE sure on the ethics of getting him there ... but at the time it seemed the only solution! As for the 1 month left and they have already stopped!! LOL!! ... we in fact have TWO months left of school/college here in the UK ... our schools do not break up until the last week in JULY .. BUT I must admit Sam is already "chilling out" ... in the respect he has now done pretty well ALL of his exams ... and is beginning to wonder WHY he is there for the next 2 months!! Sometimes I wish they would leave the tests/exams etc. until the very very end of term!!

Poor Bud was already for the end of school and then he got an upper resperatory thing and missed two days...now he has to take two day finals..his year will be 2 days longer..(if they miss 3 or more days a semester they have to take finals) ..
Jared is just waiting...but he seems to be more on track than ever.

Poor Bud - that sounds like one weird unfair policy to me.
