Homework has always been a pain around our house with Jared..it takes anywhere from 1-4 hours.. Jared hasn't had homework (to speak of) in the last two weeks...while I call this a blessing I was also very nervous (we know our kids always have homework) I finally told the school office to have the teachers email me on the subject...All but two teachers have complied..and it seems he is getting his work done This is a new level of accomplishment for Jared...yea he is taking some responsibility and doing the stuff at school! (I thought the day would never come! ) ;D First he is telling me what he wants to be when he grows up and now he is doing his work alone and at school! Yea! (and with only two weeks or so left of school..I hope he remembers this next year ;D )

This is good news and I bet he does remember next year Paul hasn't had much homework lately because school is winding down...He STILL puts it off to the last minute.

Especially when I have sat at the dining room table every school night for the last four years just keeping him focused an on track. (free at last ;D hopefully) crossing her fingers and arms and knocking on wood.. ;D ;D

Mothercat: Any idea what "clicked" to make Jared do this? I wish you could bottle it for Taylor!! LOL.. ;D T is so much like me when it comes to schoolwork - he soaks it up like a sponge, but doesn't retain it; he procrastinates big-time, and he has no clue what "study" means! He hates going to study group at school because they meet during recess (only when there's a test coming up). He begs me to let him skip it. I told him that if he can study at home and prove to me (by good test scores) that he doesn't need study group, then I'll take him out of it. The question is, if he's spending all of study group time lamenting missed recess and being angry, what is he learning? Would it be better to ensure he studies at home (by us quizzing him)? Hmmmmm? Ideas? Thanks. (and way to go, Jared!) Kris

In Jareds 504 they have to provide extra teacher help..the only extra help there is is after school in the detention class...seems alot like punishment to me so we dont normally do that . I am not sure what has clicked with Jared..he is all of a sudden thinking about the future and doing homework.. getting a bit more helpful and responsible around the house too. He also seems to think he is my keeper all of a sudden for aome reason and really sticks up for me ..even though I dont need it. Bobo cant even tease me without offending Jared ;D . I dont know maybe its short term affects of puberty or something... he EVEN takes a shower without a struggle and fight. (the planets must really be screwed up .. maybe its the brown water ;D ;D or the near death experience of his bike crash..maybe he repented ;D ;D) I just hope he keeps up the good behavior ..atleast for awhile . ;D

yup ..maybe I should bottle it and market the s**t...
;D ;D
I looked in on Jared tonight (he was "quietly" in his room playing his gameboy ..with his GLASSES on!) They normally come off the minute he gets home and it is a fight to make him wear them at home. ;D ;D
Some alien switched my kid for a fake one...I just know it... ;D

We have spent the evening searching.. well some things never change I guess this is one of them. ;D ;D As long as he keeps getting the homework done..I will gladly help find the game boy..how far could it be buried in his room..he just had it last night for crying out loud.. ;D ;D ;D ;D
