Anyone ever heard of a maps meeting at school? Something about long term goals for the child... Right now my only long term goal, is that the sd9 someday becomes independent enough to move out!! cat

We are in michigan...
Teacher wants to do it before the IEP, which is due may 16 th or something like that... Teacher said it was informal, and everyone who has to be there for the IEP wouldnt have to be there for this... Just the 2 main teachers, the AI consultant, and speach and hearing therapist... Still alot of people there!!
Last IEP they were pretty frank with us about college being a bit "unrealistic", and we should focus more on vocational/job training type schools.... Oh goody! In order to move out she does need a job... My parents were lucky I was out by 16... ;D

I can't help on the maps as I have no idea!! But Sam announced yesterday that he is torn between wanting to leave home as soon as he can afford it (which at the rate he spends money will be AGES anyway) and wanting to STAY FOREVER !! A big YIKES to the second thought!! He also said that when and IF he does leave home he wants our dog to go with him !! ... We said NO NO NO!! ... The dog STAYS!! ;D ;D Back to the Maps ... I am always a little wary of "long-term plans" with young children ... Things change way too much for them as they grow older to have anything set in "stone" ... so my advice would be that whatever they come up with ... make sure it is a completely FLEXIBLE plan of action!! GOOD LUCK Cats!
