About the time Jared lost his reading book the first time he had a writing assignment and had to write a short story . Upon doing a locker search I found it crumpled up at the bottom. It had never been turned in and no one ever thought to say anything. I had him ask his reading teacher if she still wanted it and she wanted him to put it in the YOung Authors contest. That would mean retyping it and illustrating it .
Last year he worked very hard and did a 30 page illustrated book on cave exploring. He learned alot and loved the experience but was crest fallen when he lost the contest to a ten page book on tornadoes .
Knowing how much extra time this takes I told her thanks but no thanks his regular homework was about all we could handle at the time. Well she went behind my back to the teachers that hold the contest and they all went to Jared and begged him to do it. He really didn't want to do it this year and had no intentions of doing it but he felt pressured into doing it by these teachers.
I had to finally say okay BUT with the stipulation that THEY take the time to work with him on it at school. (there aint enough hours in my days for extra) Well then they said that since my office program was different than theirs I had to help him at home. I did so. The program is tomorrow night and I am told that he has to be there. (keep in mind I have never missed a school program yet)
Being adhd he can weave a really good story and this one is about a village of people getting eaten by a giant anaconda except for one guy who the anaconda tooses to the crocodiles....GROSS ;D ;D I hope they dont send the pschyciatrist out to see us when this is ll over. ;D
He has a vividly morbid imagination ;D ;D ;D
Anyway wish him luck tomorrow night..
