:)All of the 5th graders in Texas are taking the TAKS Math test today! Think and pray for us! TAKS is a standardized test that kids have to pass to advance to the next grade. Kids take the tests in several different grades over several subjects. Dd allready passed the reading part and the science part will be in 2 weeks. The teachers try not to stress the kids out about the tests but if your kid is a worrier .....

Rose trys not to admit it but I think she is. I made sure she took her pills today and she wore her "Extreme Home Makeover" tee shirt. (she is in love with TY Pennington) The tutor she sometimes goes to said she did well last week so we will see.

God I hate those tests! Texas really goes overboard on them. They waste so much time. The kids take two or three pre tests, (which take the better part of a day for each one), each test is a day and the day after is a down day because the kids are so wiped out frome the day before! I just wish they'd give the Iowa basic skills tests like they did when I was a kid and forget about everything else!

The only good thing I can think of about the TAAS (which is what TAKS was when I was in school) is that in HS, once you pass it once you can skip on the days they're giving it the next year. Although parents may not think that's a plus. ;D
