At one of our local High Schools there was a huge "brawl"outside the school and several students were arrested. Also the students that were standing around... watching...egging the fight on were arrested. Whatever happened to just getting HELP for your fellow students?

people are so into seeing a show...gotta wander if tv plays a part here...isn't it sad that no one has the brains to say stop or call for help...blood thirsty little society we have .

Some of the students were girls. They had the nerve to kick the cops while they were being arrested.

Well I hope the brats learn something from it..makes me think of some of our hooligans here. Where is the respect for adults and authority today? I hope they get yelled at by a judge somewhere and made to do community service for the summer ( I guess my mood is kinda unforgiving this am )

I agree...they need to be held accountable. I feel like kicking people at the school but I don't do it ;D ;D

They need to be reminded that it is usually the innocent bystanders, the ones gathered 'round to watch/gawk, that are hurt in these brawls. The girl killed last year across the street from my office is proof of that. Two boys were fighting.... she was one of the crowd gathered to watch. One boy pulls a gun, shoots... she's the one hit. Dead at 14 years old. This was a big story here and unfortunate tool to use in reminding our kids to get away and get help when they see things going on. Don't watch!

What drives these kids to have so much hate in them in the first place.. Why watch, why fight , and why bring a gun to a fist fight.. very sad . The last fight they had here started with the kids and ended up with the parents fighting very sad situation today.

Yikes!! What is it about school fights that gets EVERYONE so 'interested' ... ?? I can remember when I was at school crowds of us would assemble to watch a fight ... but WHY? They were HORRIBLE!! ... But I can also remember Sam and his friends after school saying to each other 'Hey!! Did you get to see that fight at lunchtime ?? It was a good one/poor one ' etc etc ... as if it was a 'social' event!! This seemed to be mostly at around age 13 .... Going to watch 'fights at lunchtime' seemed to disappear considerably as the kids got older ....

Back when bobo was in high school he got in a fight once..the dean took him and the other boy to his small office and shut them up in there together ALONE for three hours. Told them to stay there til he returned. By the time they were let go ..they didn't even know what they were fighting about and it was all over with. That was before the guns in school era tho. The bystanders who let it go on are JUST as accountable as the people fighting. They should all do a summers worth of community service since they have sooo much free time to watch fights. ;D ;D

My locker my freshman year was right by where the fights would always break out. Which meant it was a pain to get to my locker.

Friday there were some 5th grade boys fighting on the playground. I broke it up but one boy wouldn't let it go. He kept calling one boy a "wuss"and a" mama's boy". I told him to back off and stop. He didn't and I said Time Out for you. He didn't budge...I said Time Out to him again and he said I will do your frickin time out as soon as I tie my shoes. I said you have earned yourself a trip to the principals office. I took him him...and ALL THE PRINCIPAL DID WAS MAKE HIM APOLOGIZE TO ME. We have zero tolerance in our schools for fighting but this boy was allowed to remain.

There are two main reasons for fights at school. One is romance jealosy and the other is ego protection. Kids start out as the young child that is friends with everyone. In junior high social climbing begins. The same child walks up to the schoolmates he or she always played with and gets rejected. This happens because the schoolmates have formed a "we are better and more important for whatever reason" group that excludes their former playmates. After this rejections sinks in the child looks for acceptance somewhere else. If the same rejection keeps occuring the child joins the "Thug" group and begins to use intimidation as their means for respect. The theory is if I can't get respect because I'm just good enough then I just beat the respect out of you. I have tried to convince kids for years to be themselves, not some alter image.

I am surprised that one of the by-standers in the crowd didn't use their "cell phone" (that their parents proably got them) to call the police I hope they do get some community service but I wouldn't count on it. We also have a ZERO tolerance in place here and they go by the book---last yr in the boys locker room Riley hit one of his good friends on the back and got suspended 1 day from school and he had to do the RTC procedure . when he got back. Mind you Riley and friend roll around wrestling more then that when they are here at the house----even friend was surprised that he was suspended--he tried to stick up for him but no luck. Well at least Riley knows the keep his hands to himself Linda good for you for breaking up the fight and sending the boy to the principal. Bad for principal for his actions . At least the kids have you to work for them
