Take germany as his second "main foreign" language next year? ? My ds is at 3rd grade now, next year, at 4th, they have the option to decide to have germany as second main foreign language..... I´am hesetating... should I engourage him to take it now or not... ?? I know he would propably do well with it, but it might be too much of presure right now... he´s doing fine in english and that should be a good sign concidering this, but... He says "yeas mom, I could take it, is it hard" So he has no idea what he´s going to choose.... Some thought´s please.....

The experts say that it is best to learn at a young age.
Our high school foreign exchange students are here this month... they have been EVERYWHERE except school... sounds like a dream come true! The opportunities that become available by being multi-lingual are endless.
Can he can drop it part way through the year if it is overwhelming?
Even a basic exposure to a language can have huge dividends. I say go for it!

I agree with Trid. Being bi-lingual will definitely take him places career wise in the future. Just do what Trid suggested and see if it could be dropped if he find it too overwhelming. I say give the boy a slap on the back for doing so well in English. Cami is scaping by and she is American!

What choices does he get as his second foreign language? Having said that I think German is useful!! .. but so is French and so is Spanish ... so IF he has a variety of choices this is a toughie!! ... HOWEVER, if he is keen on going with the German I would say GO FOR IT !!

I´ve had some second thought´s of this.... Thing is that he can start germany at 7th or at 1st in high school too.... At 7th they have the option to start swedish also(swedish is the secong legal language inFinland so it might be usefull...) So he has option´s even after this... so I á m thinking of giving him some time to decide it later on....
