:-[Maybe my anxiety/depression is kicking in but how do you keep from feeling awful when your kid comes home with a weeks worth (about 20) of homework and tests and there are 2, 100's, 1 89, and the rest are 78 or lower? I congradulated her on the two 100's and the 89./ We went over some of the other papers and many of the errors were just "not thinking" mistakes. I know "in the cosmic stream of things" what she makes in 5th grade language arts isn't very important but it really bothers me. I wrote the teacher a note and told her we went over things but I still feel awful.

Don't feel bad...you did the right thing in telling Rose that some of her work was good...that is all any of us can do. I bet Rose doesn't feel half as bad as you do You have a great kid there....be proud of that

sweety I know how you feel. It is especially hard when sitting next to that pile of 20 papers is a stack of homework/reports from your other child that is all 90 and above.
I have learned to just be proud of her for daily accomplishments and continue to support her efforts in her school work.

Sweety, dont worry, you did right by complementing the good and adressing that her mistakes were mostly "not thinking", not her being stupid or anything. Like you said, in the long run it´s not a big deal. for her next test.

What I would like to understand is why do teachers colllect a weeks worth and then send it home? I mean they do that with Jared and I could really help him more if they would send it home every day (from the day before). You did good to praise the good stuff and support the rest. Its (l.a.) not as important as her self esteem. I always feel worse than Jared about his grades.
