;)Alright ladies and genlemen, we have been having spirit week here at the school. although Monday was cancelled due to snow, here is the rest of the schedule: Monday: Team Logo Day Tuesday: Scarf or necktie Day (isn't that just asking for trouble) Wednesday: Wacky Wednesday (dress funny) Thursday: Fonzey's Fifties Day Friday: School Spirit day with a pep rally for the entire school at the end of the day Um, anyone wanna guess how I feel about it. This week has been terrible, at least for how the kids have all been acting at the program. Dang, still can't remember what yesterday was ;DCan you tell it's been that kind of week Had to just ask the kids

We do not do spirit week, we do spirit day each friday during football season. for elementary it is just school colors, junior high and highschool do a "theme" each friday. We do however do Drug awarness week, and each day of the week has a theme. Ex. Hats off to a drug free school= cap day, War against drugs= camoflauge (sp?) day, Drugs keep you from_______= wear something from your favorite sport or hobby., etc. My kids never had a problem with it, but as soon as Dan hit 6th grade he would not dress up for anything, so I never knew what the jr high was doing untill this year with amber in 6th grade. As long as they dont do it too many times a year, maybe once or twice I think it is great fun. Some schools do too much.

I laugh... Michael wears military stuff to school every day... either his Class A dress uniform with spit shine shoes and tie, or he wears his battle dress in Woodland Cammo.
This month EVERY ONE (except Patrick, Shaun and me) is also wearing Eagles stuff (although on Class A day they can't desicrate the Army uniform!)
Patrick, Shaun and I usually wear pajamas during the school day... often cuddled under the comforter (not a duvet!).
We have lots of spirit at home... no theme to it, just spirit!
But if I had a vote, I think I would choose the " Didn't get that note"... mostly because it is more effort than it is worth to do crazy hair day, or twin day...
Our karate school is another story...
Wear your Eagles jerseys or you must wear the school uniform. My boys tried to wear their Patriots jersey... that didn't go over very well! Although, the owner did say that IF the Patriots beat the Eagles, we can wear Patriots for one day. If the Eagles win, he is giving the whole school a day off. (seems very biased to a New England girl living in Philly.)

I dont think my kids ever liked spirit week as they never told me till like Friday when it was happening.. Bud was just to grown up to be childish and Jared ..well Jared just thinks he it too kool for that kind of thing. Bud can get extra credit now on Fridays (in high school) if he wears red...but he hates the color red..

I can't tell you how many years it took to "convince" me that the things DS wanted to do were actually being sponsored by the school . . . like wacky wednesday, etc. - I didn't find any of those notes until last year. This year he was telling me about pajama day. Pajama day?? in f4th grade?? Well - just got a note that pajama day had been changed! Changed from when? I never got the first note!!
But - I have to admit - I do like when they do these things!!

Pajama day... I beg to see the day in Michael's school. They are above anything like that! Dress code rules: No student is permitted to wear sleeping attire to school or at any school sponsored function. (Is Michael the only kid who wears street clothes to bed?) (I wonder what they expect when the French class goes to Paris?)

As a sub teacher at a middle school, I have to say that I despise spirit week! Hat day seems to be the worst; kids spend the entire class grabbing at each other's hats, etc. Team day (wear your favorite teams jersey) isn't so bad altho one kid showed up with a BAT which he had taken away till the end of school!
Our school does a character color every month and everyone is encouraged to wear that color every Thursday. This causes no problems.
Whenever the students are allowed to do anything out of the norm, however, (like wear hats) some of the students use it as an excuse to create havoc.

Well !! You sure got me there!! ;D ;D I have never ever ever heard of this!! ... (so no we don't have it in the UK!) ... When I first saw the title I thought it was something to do with ghosts!! LOL!! Reading this though ... my gut reaction is that it "sounds" great in theory ... but in "practice" could send teachers (and many children!) completely nuts!! However, I haven't voted because I am not qualified to do so !!

I didnt vote eather, our school doesn´t do this as a pattern, but once or twice a year they have something speciel for their class. 1st of may(or around) they do usually wear something funny, it´s a national day of for celebrating the spring. I like that, but only couple of time´s a year. Laurie; I doupt parisienne´s wear pajama´s eather, they are too elegant for that
