What is the best way to let the school know that at this moment I cannot sign IEP papers until I can pull myself together and be able to concentrate on his needs. I do not want to sign them unless i am absolutely sure of the contents and his needs will be met. Explained this with daughters school and two days later received phone call asking if I was being back to mom yet? Made me feel like an idiot for not signing papers yet. Is there a deadline> So much for the quick ? Kim

I don't know if there is a deadline or not...but I do know you can take someone with you to the meeting. You are not an idiot...just a concerned mom. Put it off until you are ready...your time is valuable too.

I dont know if there is a time limit or not either but you are right for taking your time..I have found these things to be rushed (kind like buying a bad used car) and they shouldn't be rushed at all. I would definitley take a third party who could give you an opinion and serve as a witness. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

That is a great analogy buying a bad used car. I do have a meeting with an advocate this morning and will ask this question. It just seems you ask for testing and that takes 2-3 months but when it comes to signing papers they want it done right away. I know myself well enough not to sign anything until I come back to earth so to speak. Just hope they understand that.

Was it "tabled"? If it was you have 30 days to make changes, before actualy signing them...
They were in a rush for me to sign one time, but it was because the teacher made a mistake and gave me their copies even... I think teacher was worried, they would get lost or something...
