Dear Group,
I just had the nicest few minutes with ds's teacher. I've not said that since he started school and he's in the third grade. She pulled me aside as I walked up to pick up my son (we walk to and fro everyday) to tell me that he had a pretty good week. This teacher is new to us of about three weeks when we insisted on a different teacher. I wanted to KISS her!! She said it wasn't perfect, but soooo much better than last week. She also asked if I had noticed that she wasn't emailing me much anymore. She said she decided that I didn't need to know every single little thing that went on in her classroom! (The last teacher sent me emails telling me that he sharpened his pencil seven times in a day!!) This new teacher said she could handle what happened on a daily basis and there was no need in me being stressed about it all the time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT??? I tell ya, I was speechless!! I DO believe that's the nicest thing anyone has said to me about my son and this disorder since he was dx when he was four years old.
The story behind it all is that she has an ADHD daughter in the fifth grade whose teacher is sending my son's teacher emails ALL the time about all the BAD behavior, never about any of the good, and she decided that she didn't need to do that to me!
Anyway, I wanted all of you to know that there ARE some good people out there, who don't think our children are just off the wall. Thank the heavens...!!
