Hiya everyone!
Just wanted to give a quick update on Jenna. She started the school year off on Strattera for her first medication... and her grades are.... 3 B's, 2 B+'s, and 1 C!!!!!!!!!! The C is in reading and they feel it can go up, but otherwise she's doing great! AND the best news... Her Social and other skills are ALL satisfactory marks EXCEPT listening attentively and working accurately!!! She's doing WONDERUFL

Boy...miles did you ever bring up an interesting point. The first thing I always did with my kids report card was to look at citizenship and teachers comments...grades came second.
Anyone else do this?

That is suck wonderful news Anna! It is always great to hear that a child has found the help they needed and is prospering because of it!
I have always told Cami not to sweat the grades. As long as she passes I'm happy.

Boy...miles did you ever bring up an interesting point. The first thing I always did with my kids report card was to look at citizenship and teachers comments...grades came second. Anyone else do this? Different country but SOOOOO much the same as you Linda ... the important thing to me was always the mark given for EFFORT & BEHAVIORU .... to me this was WAY, WAY more important than the actual grade!! ... Sam's grades were NEVER high ... in fact a "C" in OUR book is HIGH .... but whenever I saw a 6/6 for EFFORT I would celebrate ... he was doing the BEST he COULD whether it was an A or an E grade ... THAT was his grade & I would celebrate it with him!! ... but when I saw a 1/6 for Effort & Behaviour (Fortunately not too often!) that really got me on a DOWNER!! To me that meant he could potentially do SOOO much better in that subject ... and THAT was what was upsetting! But never the actual grade.... In our book a "C" is an "A" as long as the effort and behaviour have been great!!

Sorry it has taken me so long to respond...Life kind of got in the way of my computer time! Jenna is really happy with her grades. She isn't giving it her BEST effort - (She says she can get them to A's if she takes more time and listens better...but she then made the comment that sometimes she just would rather do what she THINKS should be done and be done with it)... Jenna's psychologist told my husband and I to take a back seat to pushing Jenna in school. We're to give her some freedom to choose when to do homework, what to study for on tests, and to help when Jenna ASKS us to, but otherwise let her make the choices. Let me tell you...it's been HARD... especially when I know if we studied harder we could get her Spelling to an A! BUT I HAVE noticed a drastic improvement in Jenna's self confidence in herself. SHE is making the decision on school work and is taking responsibility for every subject. (Now...if she really starts to fall in the grades, we'll switch approaches, but for now she's good to go!) BUT we're happy with the grades, and ESPECIALLY the behavior and social issues! Those were always our trouble areas with Jenna. Anna
