My husband (very nonADHD) has had difficulty in the past helping Rose with school work. He just hasn't had the patience or the skill to explain well but we have found his niche! Rose has to read a mystery book for a book report. The two of them are reading a Nancy Drew book and having a ball. He reads some, she reads some, then they explain it to each other. He found a synopsis of the book on the web (so he knows where the story is going and what is going on) and the two are having great discussions! Being the son of a Jr High English teacher has helped him! He's excited that he has found a way to work with her. Since there is a different type of book every month, I would imagine that I will be hearing lots of discussions this year. He likes it, he's good at it, she likes it and she's learning to appreciate books and building her reading skills (which need improvement anyway) ;D ;D ;D

Good for your hubby! Having grown up without my father, it always thrills me to see a hands-on dad.

That's great! Way to go, Dad! My dh helps the kids a lot, and we "tag team" with homework. I usually get stuck with (oops), I mean volunteer for the book reports, while he does math. Sometimes I do math or science, though. I think it helps the kids to have different people presenting differing ideas of how to process the info. Kris

My DH is a part time college instructor, CPR & first aid instructor, boy scout leader, etc... He has always stood by the truth that a good teacher will never teach the same lesson the same way twice. If you don't understand teaching method A, you won't understand it any better hearing method A again and again. So, in order to get an entire class to understand, a good teacher will have at least 3 different approaches for each lesson! Tag team teaching is a wonderful method for any child. If the class teacher doesn't get through to a student, let mom and or dad give it a shot. Kids will grasp it when given the right view of it. Let's face it, no matter how great a relationship a couple has, we NEVER see things the same way the other parent does KUDOS to MR. SWEETY!
