I will preface this with yes I know she is a handfull at the moment, and yes I know things will be better soon (crossing fingers for the dr appt thursday) BUT this incident really upsets me!!
I walk in to the school to pick up sd, and I am just standing by the lockers after checking in at office waiting for the bell to ring... This young woman with a name tag on wizzes by me, and another woman (sd's speach and language special ed helper) comes around the corner... I over hear a conversation with the young woman asking the other one if she has seen "sd's name"... Of course my ears perk up, and I am leaning to hear more ... As the conversation ends I say "sd's name who?" (meaning last name), they confirmed what I figured it was my sd they were looking frantically for...
Apparently right before school lets out they have recess, and sd was still outside... The teacher is chastizing sd, for good reason, and sd says she didnt hear the bell (entirely possible her hearing aids are in being worked on AGAIN)...
So what does the teacher say then? Well from now on sd you can not play at that end of the playground, you have to play closer to the bell.... UMMMM Am I the only one who thinks that is the wrong way to deal with this? Shouldnt whoever is out there be responcible to make sure all the kids get in the school? I just think it is wrong to punish sd because she cant hear the bell from the other end of the playground, thus taking whatever activities away from her at that end ya know...
What you think over reacting? Or am I right?
