Oh boy, I have said before if the 2nd grade teacher's don't retire after this year, they MUST be saints. In each of the classes there are at least 10 kids with some type of "issue", I'll put it as a blanket, since I don't know the specifics on all of them. It might be a dx, IEP, 504, special ed, the whole enchalata. Anyhow, Since there are olny 2 2nd grade class rooms, hte kids class size has gone up 50% more than last years 3 1st grade classes. OK, Not too bad until you figure in the 28 kids in each cless WITH NO AIDE I don't know how long they are going to be able to stand it. I don't doubt the teachers' abilities at all, GOD HELP them at Playground time. I guess what I'm wondering, on behalf of all the kids, should I question the fact they don't have an aide? Or should I wait and see how the year progresses? It's only the first day, btu I don't want the kids to have a bad year .

It is amazing isn't it? We haven't had that many in a class yet - I think the most we have had was 26 - but we don't have aides for any of the teachers (except kindergarten) in any of the classes. Not in the budget. Ahhhh, that school budget . . . don't get me started on that!!!

Oh I know what you mean about that school budget. Especially since I'm working in the school ::)Thank Goodness our program is self sufficient, the parents pay for hte program, not taxes---not great when we get shifted from room to room, but I'll deal with that any day. A couple of us were talking and it is going to be too much. I want to help out, but then Mikey would be running over to me all day long, besides the fact that I am there at 6:45 til 8, then back at 1:30-2:00 til 6, it would be a very long day for me. ::)I feel bad for my kids, but they LOVE being at SACC and playing with all of their friends. I am going to ask the teacher what she need help with, so then maybe that'll take a little off of her. Oh boy, 2 hrs to go for them, and about a half an hour for me. HEY< GOOD NEWS< I HAVEN"T GOTTEN A PHONE CALL YET

Our schools here welcome parent volunteers Kaiti. In Jacob's school there is 3 2nd grade classes...with about 18 kids in each class. We are also lucky to have interns from our college(Michigan State)....who earn s teaching credits. Not every class has them...I think the teacher requests them.
Mikey's teacher will probably love it you offer to help.

Honey's class only has 14 so we are really lucky. The biggest class in the school is 16. Even if you can't devote any classroom time to her, she still might want help with other things like helping her prepare for art class or something like that. I agree with GOD HELP THEM!! I often wonder how many tranquilazers Avery's day care teacher has to take in a day, if seen these kids in action and they are like a little mob! At my school we have to put in 30 service hours a year and needless to say, the daycare receives some from almost everyone. I also can see where you wouldn't want to disrupt Mikey. I work at Avery's school for 2 hours on Wednesday mornings helping with breakfast and she thinks she is my personal assistant. I told her she has to call me Miss Mommy at school for a joke an now it is my new name!! Becky

Miss Mommy, my sausage is cold That's too cute. Mikey and Tara call me mommy, some of the other kids have inadvertantly called me mommy after I was talking to my kids, then they call me their teacher's name, then it goes down the list and I wait for them to get it right....I wonder if I need a name tag even at the end of the year. When Tara has friends over or if the neighbors kids are here, they call me Miss Kaiti, basiclly like the authoritative type thing ;D I'll e-mail her because by the time she gets done, I'm already getting the kids for SACC
