Tonight we were talking about what we 'saw' when we were reading. I personally see nothing - I just form impressions. My boys said they see live, vividly colored action sequences. And my 2nd boy sees minute details, "I even see bugs on the bark on the trees."
Mercy, no wonder he can't focus!

Oh goodness, yup, too busy trying to think of other things Last year Mikey's teacher would let him read while she was doing the lesson because it saved her from yelling at him for fidgeting AND Mikey would answer correctly

Oh yes ... can you imagine when you can see something in such minute detail you need a lot of concentration JUST for that ... it doesn't leave much concentration over for what is going on around you ... or what the story is in fact about ...
This is such an interesting observation and now you mention it Sam too tends to notice "detail" ... little things which nobody else seems to notice ... but at the same time has often "lost the plot" in the bigger picture ...
Very interesting ... and something to really "make us think" !!

Details is something our son is known for. We keep saying that he will either become a detective or a lawyer maybe both. I can see it now CSI Nathan.....he can have his own show. No kidding this really happened... When he was 5, he was at his cousins house playing. 6 months later, he walked into the room and within seconds was asking where the necklace was on the dresser, where the picture was on the night stand, and why was the dresser drawer crooked, what happened to the red crayon? .... After he finds all the details on his CSI, he can proceed to court and correct the suspects speech until they will confess to anything just to stop from being corrected...please no more details..... miles
