Can you get an IEP for SI Dysf? What kind of modifications can you get?We are trying Steph without ADHD meds and just going to OT for her SID.Her first appt is next week.I don't think she has ADHD because she can sit through a long movie,is not really a behavior problem, reads very good for a first grader and doesn't have alot of attention problems. She is just real hyper and likes to jump and move alot. Thanks for any help.

She sounds like a girl version of Mikey, well, excpet for that attention detail. I don't see why you couldn't get something for it. If she is already getting OT, then that should help your cause. Good luck....just ask and keep asking until you get a result that you are satisfied with.

Unfortunatly generally you cannot get an IEP for SID. Do you have th book the out of sync child? Or it's companion the out of sync child has fun?
They will both be good resourses for you and are generally avaiable at Borders books.
You will most likely only get a 504, but with an ADHD diagnosis who knows.. it is worth working toward.
My son got some informal accomodations while at school. He got a swiss disc cushion to sit on.. allowed for a little extra wiggle on his seat.. some other ideas are .. sitting in the back.. yes the back.. so she can stand rather than sit at her desk if that helps.. allowing her a second desk area with a 'cubby' so she can sit there when she needs to filter out classroom noise and sights to get work done..
anyway.. get those books if you don't have them.. they are helpful. Denise

Thanks Denise, I'm still getting used to the difference between 504's and IEP's

Thanks Denise and Kaiti.Yes I have read The out of sync child.I have a copy orderd so I can read it over again.I have not read the new one, the out of sync child has fun yet.Is it a good one too? I am new to IEP's and 504's.She is in speech therapy at school,so does that mean she already has an IEP?

If she's in speech she more than likely does have an IEP. At least in our state you would. Do you have any paperwork from the school? If you do, double check to see that it's an IEP. When are you supposed to be re-evaluated? You can always call the school and try to find out.
As far as SID, I can't help you any there. Sorry.

I'm going to have to look into that;. I just typed some stuff, but now that I think back, it's making more sense. Oh man, that's scary
