I'm sure that this is a dumb question and I should probably know the answer, but I don't.
As you know my DD6yo still hasn't been dx. We have been trying since October to get it, but that is another story. We should be seeing the psych in July unless an appt opens up before then.
My question is once I get a dx, will she automatically qualify for a 504 or IEP? Will she even need one? I have done some reading on them, but still not sure. If she automatically qualifies, do I just call the school? I have no idea of where to go once I get the dx. Thanks for any advice or help you have!

The way I understand it is IEP and 504 plans are for children who arent doing as well as other students because of a LD (and ADHD does qualify)... So I think it depends on the student themself, rather than a diagnosis... If an adhd student is academically achieving the IEP or 504 may not be necessary... Again that is the way I understand it, not sure my facts are 100%
And there are no dumb questions!! Good luck!

It depends on where you live too. Steven qualified even though his grades were good because he wasn't living up to his potential. You need to check with you state board.
