After school today, I got that dreaded call. I had been wondering when I would get one. This is my first behavior call from them. She started out by saying that my DD had a very good day today. O.K. I thought. Then she said that after sending the bad behavior note home yesterday that she just wanted me to know that Briana had a really good day today. What note? I didn't get a note sent home yesterday. Well, apparently it was sent home but never made it here. I was supposed to send it back in signed today. The teacher got it back but didn't check for my signature. I would've thought she would have at least checked for a signature. Now I don't know if I will get to see it or not. I'm hoping that she resends it. After a nice talk about DD's behavior at school, I decided I needed to get to the bottom of me not getting the note. I tried to stress the importance of me getting all notes, etc. from school, but I'm not sure if she got the message. Does anyone have any suggestions about making sure I get the important stuff?

Hello! Oh do I remember those days when I got a call from school asking why Alicia didn't turn a note back in with my signature...What note?!?! Sure enough when Alicia got home the note magically appeared, along with several others.... :-/I'm not sure what the teacher was thinking not checking for the signature. I don't have too much advice as Alicia never really outgrew that phase, I still never get ANYTHING from school!! Progress reports somehow never get handed out to Alicia (but everyone else gets them!), the referals that I am supposed to sign get lost in her locker.... I must say I dread the almost daily calls/e-mails from the school. It does however get better when they get older, however now Alicia thinks its fun to answer the phone and tell the ap we are not home ...She doesn't seem to realize he just calls again the next day! I wish I had advice for you unfortunalty we never solved that problem Angela

My son's school photo copies all referals, etc, so the first time he "lost" one I went up to the office and had them show me the referal. He got yelled at in front of everyone in the office, so now he brings the referals home so he can get yelled at in private. ;D

I have an understanding with the teacher, after a couple times of the note not making it home. (once the bus driver gave it to me the next day after she found it stuck between the seat and the wall.)
Now, if a note is coming home, an email preceeds it. This way I can ask Brooke for the note and it blows her away that I even know about it. I told her I am psychic.
I also have her convinced I have eyes in the back of my head. ;D

It never ceases to amaze me that teachers rely on kids to deliver "bad" notes to their parents, esp. ones with ADHD. Most kids are going to deliberately "forget" it because they don't want to get in trouble, but the ADHD one really can forget, or lose it, etc. I would tell the school that if they want to make sure you know the important stuff such as this they need to call or email. Don't rely on notes. If they have to due to needing a signature, then make the call or email to so you know to ask for the note if not delivered.
