Shelly75964, that is great news. Sounds like the school is gonna get a surprise, just like your family did. I really hope these people can help you out. It is outrageous and unconscionable what the school did, IMO. One thing though, I don't remember posting that site, I did a search on it in and found it in one of McTavish23s posts. I did go check it out and it is a great resource. Here is the link www.bigsplace.com or click here: BigsplaceThis is the link I believed you followed to the states advocacy list www.bigsplace.com/advocate or clicke here: AdvocacyI am gonna put this in our ADHD links section at the top of the forums.

Dad2Brooke: You are right.. I went back and saw that you had posted all of the 800 numbers. Sorry about that.. I am really hoping that this will get somewhere.. They (the school)are going to wonder why I didn't call them and talk to them first!!! ha ha ha

The advocate that I spoke with loved the fact that they had given my son the papers and expected him to remember to give them to me... ;D I particularly find humor in that also, after a couple of days of being angry . She said that they have a case worker that just loves taking on these type of cases. If you know what I mean.. But, like my husband said this may be far from over. He said that they may try and turn this around on us. Saying that because I call and go up to the school all the time that I am always trying to start trouble. I don't look at it that way at all. I think that I am just involved and that is something that they are not really used to..

Isn't it ironic? You want to be involved in your child's school and you get labeled as trying to start trouble! The schools need help desperately these days, but when a parent comes around they get suspicious! MY child's school even went as far as to ask the parent's not to walk the kids to their classrooms in the mornings. They just want you to drop them off at the front. The vice-principal even stands out front and opens your car door for you when you pull up and shuts it behind the kid when they get out. Needless to say, I walk Jarrett in almost every morning. That's the only contact I have with the teacher! Good Luck! Sounds like things are promising. wouldn't you love to be a fly on the wall when the school realizes that they had their own dirty tricks thrown back in their faces? Hee-hee, I'm in a vindictive mood this morning.

Shelly I think that your school is gettin exatcly what they asked for ;D Dont be afraid of being the trouble maker, who would defend your child´s right´s if not you. At least they´ll learn not to start with you ;D ;D

Oh I lay in bed sometimes just coming up with schemes Of course I'm always more professional when I actually do something or have a meeting. Since I do have an eduational background from college, alot of peeople at the school don't know that. They just look at me like the babysitter for the kids So I throw stuff at em that they wouldn't think I knew, just to be a b****. Yup, Vindictive. (Although, to be honest with you, it's mostly the psyco-babble that was written in the text books I had ;D) OK, Sorry for the vent there Shelley....... BUT They sound like they wanna dance, and why not give it to them, in your steps. ;D ;D ;D ;D Kaiti-aka Not very nice today lady

Okay, well I guess you could say that you learn something new everyday... I jUst got off of the phone with an advocate. She has informed me that the school does not have to formally invite me to a 504 meeting. Man was I not happy about that.. However, she did tell me that if I can prove that if one of the teachers are not following the modifications I can write a letter to the Office of Civil Rights and file a complaint. And in that complaint I can also put on there that they took of some modifications because they said that he had improved enough to have them taken off. She asked me if he was failing and I said yes, he is failing the classes where I believe that the modifications are not being followed. She said that I need to provide the OCR a copy of his report card that shows that he is not passing, therefore there is no reason for any modifications to be subtracted off of the 504 plan. She gave me there website for some sample letters that I can follow. She also said that I need to send one to the school as well, or even better request a meeting with the counselor and take the letter with me and hand it to her, so that she can read it herself. Which I think I want to do that, so that I can see the look on her face when she see's at the bottom that it has been cc'd to the Office of Civil Rights!!!!! Well, I have some inestigative work to do..

OUCH, CC'S BC'S
HMMMM I don't think they will be too happy to see that young lady.
oh then again, can't say as I blame ya either. Although it's kinda stupid NOT to include a parent in a meeting, now, what was that supposed to prove?
Good luck with your letter Kaiti
