Hi All,
Just got home from my kindergarten son's conference. My son, Ryan (soon to be 6) is doing very well in all aspects of his studies. However, the teacher suggested that I work on his need to inform her of all that goes wrong in the class (tattletaling). She said that he need to focus on Ryan and not everything around him (not easy for an Adhd child). What opinions or suggestions would you have. We plan on talking to him about this soon and would like to get some opinions?? Thanks in advance.

Hi Josh! I don't think you've got a thing to worry about! They are all like that so don't think yours is any different! I think teachers make a parent feel like their child is the only one tattle telling or whatever that is going wrong in the class! School usually knows how to handle that with missed recesses or sitting for 5 minutes. Their YOUNG at that age. It makes them "Known" if they go and tell on another student. They LIKE the teachers attention when she stops everything to listen to what a child has to say to them. Gosh my 2nd grader is STILL telling on her older brother ;D She came home with the TRUE story why he has "Assigned seat" now on the bus ;D Believe you me your child will grow out of that stage and as long as they are doing well in their school work I wouldn't worry one bit about tattle telling. Take care...Madison

Thanks Madison, I guess sometimes we feel that our child is the only one capable of negative behavior. It was nice to hear that this is a normal phase. I did speak to Ryan this morning before school and told him that he was doing fantastic in school and just to try and focus more on himself and not everyone around him. He said ok mom I will try so that is good enough for me. Thanks again!!
