to keep in comunication with there childs teacher. I just started this last so far it seems good. It started it because I went in after I had been sick for a week to hear how my son was not doing very well. I decided that if she could not pick up te phone to let me know or talk to my husband when he was there that this would be the besst way for me to know what is going on.
I am wondering if it worked for anyone else.

This is a very good idea. I started something like this last school year and modified it alittle this year. In this school district they have agenda books that go to and from everyday so I made up a "report" that I staple in his agenda. This lets me know on a daily basis how he is doing in school with work, disipline and have homework and turn it in. I can send you a copy of the form I made. It has worked wonders for us.

I think this is a great idea ... in elementary school ... Looking back I wish we had used something like this in elementary school.
However, in High School it is a different kettle of fish ... so many teachers - none of whom are seeing your child for more than an hour a day ... although we DO have a "planner" which 'theoretically' goes back and forth from school to parent but 'in reality' gets a teacher's comment about once a term!! ...
However, enough of high school - when your kids are still in elementary I would say GO FOR IT ... I wish I had thought of it back then!
Good Luck!!

Last year when Mikey was having problems, his teacher had a book for him. In it he would write the date, and "good am" and "good PM". If they had to tell him more than 3 times a specific direction, he had to cross out whatever time of the day it was. From there, say AM: the teacher would send his book to the specials (gym, music, etc...) with him, and if they had a problem they would write down what ever was the concern.
It split the day up, so even if he had a crappy AM, he still had the chance to make up with a good pm. He wasn't the only child that had one of these books, and it was good for the others as well.
Hope this helped Kaiti

Hi, Just was talking to friend about the good LUCK they have with a notebook and teacher keeps them updated on what homework is turned in, etc. Mine is at the age I pretty much know what's going on in class and with grades but next year...3rd I'm probably going to need some kind of contact with the teacher on progress, homework, etc.
SOUNDS LIKE A GOOD IDEA!!! Madison

Not to get off subject of the notebook, but pertaining to knowing what is when. I think I probably said this at the beginning of the school year, but Tara's teacher sends home on Monday an informational type sheet. It lists the Days' assignments for homework on one column, and the other column is for notes from the teacher to the class in general. Lets us know more practice is needed as a whole sometimes, keep up the good work with handwriting type things. Now if I could get it the week that it is, and not for 2 months ago like I did last Monday, we'll be in good shape. Kaiti
