Does any one else notice that their child cant remember what they did that day. IF I prompt my ds6 what movie did you see today he can tell me. But if I ask him what did you do today he looks at me and says stuff. SOme times I really think he doesnt remember. It scares me to think that his life is passing him by and he isnt remembering any of it. He is taking strattera 25 mg and it is working well. Does any one have any tips for improving short term memory.

Not to worry too much..both my boys and about atleast 30 others I know the same age ( we did the cub scout/boy scout thing) answer the question "what did you do today ?" with the answer "stuff." I'm not sure if it is the new kids generation of today , but i dont remember doing that. ( I also dont remember talking much to my parents tho that was inthe 60's and 70's) Dont let it worry you too much, it could be natural .

djsmom, Heres a trick the therapist taught me that helps with memory: Give your child a list of words to repeat back to you. Start with a couple & work up to longer lists. Come to think of it, remember that game we played as kids " I went to a deserted Island & I took a....." And then the 1st person says a A word, 2nnd person a B word & so on, repeating everyomnes qwords as you go? That would be a fun twist on the memory builder.

I still have those moments sometimes ::)Although when I go into a room, I try to repeat to myself, what I am going to get or do.....then I forget what I saying anyhow I think that maybe there are so many ideas going through his head that he remembers them, but might not know which one to sya first, so he does his "stuff" thing. My son remembers everything and sometimes, unfortunatly I get told about the WHOLE DAY

LOL, I am the same way too! My DH calls me the "goldfish girl" because supposedly goldfish have like a four second memory. I figured out that if i need to remember something I have to write it down, but the only problem is that I can never remember where I put the stinking notes!! I also am famous for driving along and forgetting where I am going. I made a wrong turn today and said out loud "why did I turn that way for?" and from the back seat kelby replied "because you are a dork and you forgot where you are going". Guess he'll be calling me momma goldfish before long!

I DO this too ... and am also not add/adhd.... One thing I do find about my 16 year old son though is he remembers so many things from his younger years soooo clearly ... things I would honestly have thought he had forgotton ... but they seem to be totally clear in his head! ... When I ask him what he did today he very often says "Nothing" ... (which I guess is equivalent to "stuff"! LOL!) but I take this as an "I don't want to go into that right now... " but give him a little time and he will normally fill me in ... sometimes days later!!

i think you have been peaking in my house too! i forget what i went into a room for then have to turn around and go back where i started! i have also turned the wrong way. normally when i go a basic direction i always go for one specific thing, then take the same route to go somewhere else. my car forgets we're going somewhere else! dd can remember the most trivial details almost from pre-school. but ask her what she did today and you can forget any sort of answer! the way our kids minds work is beyond me i know! dh has a similar type of working mind. he can play a chess game he played in high school from memory, remember names of music groups and the title of the song but he can't remember to pick up milk on his way home! i doubt you son doesn't remember, it probably wasn't important enough to comment on. i don't think either of my kids have ever done a thing in school their entire lives! i'd ask what they did in school - "nothing" was always the answer, still is. get either kid on a subject important to them and they can talk your ear off! i wouldn't worry too much. i think it's typical kid, especially boy stuff. karen
