Hot and Cold with friends ...

My son seems to blow hot and cold with his friends ... and ALWAYS has .... he will see certain friends constantly (pretty much daily) for months and then get "bored" or "fed up" with them ...

I KNOW we are lucky because he makes friends easily and has plenty of them ... but I don''t like to see him "cool off" very quickly with someone he has been consistently friendly with for some time ... but he has ALWAYS done it ... it is like "familiarity breeds contempt" ... he never actively "falls out" with the people he 'cools off' with ... but basically just stops seeing them regularly or wanting to see them ...

It has happened again just this week ... a kid he has been friends with for years who comes round to our house regularly (particularly regularly in the past few months) ... suddenly my son is ignoring his calls and is always "too busy" to see him ...

Does anyone else see this 'pattern' with their kids or is it just me !

I think it is caled "teenitis"lol...I think what is probably happening is that Sam needs his own space...Paul does the same thing sometimes...It is as though they feel smothered!!Make any sense Anne?

OH YES!! The "smothered" feeling .. oh yes!! ... Sam said about this particular boy today "He rings or comes round EVERY day... if he rings and gets no answer he rings and rings and rings again... (which admittedly is true!) and I am fed up with it!" ... I think you have just "hit the nail on the head" there Linda!! ...
