The places I called yesterday have yet to return my call. Ah Now THISSSS is the problem we have here in the UK ... these builders just DO NOT NEED THE WORK and are really not interested in the "little" stuff ... The POSITIVE is for me that Sam intends to join the building industry and long may this boom last ... BUT if you are trying to get something DONE .. !! We called about 10 local building companies for a fairly small building job about 2 years ago ... NOT ONE ... no seriously NOT ONE returned our call .. EVER !!

Boy that is a tough situation to be in. You want the work done, but no one cares about you. You are either forced to do the work yourself or hire a not so reputable contractor. Christy, I wonder if a bunch of contractors skipped town and headed for Louisiana, Mississippi or Texas? Miles

Christy, I wonder if a bunch of contractors skipped town and headed for Louisiana, Mississippi or Texas? Miles Miles, my dh was wobndering/thinking the same thing! We did have one return a call this morning...at 7:30 a.m.! I was at work though so i missed it.. it woke mom up at home but by the time she got to the phone, they had hung up. She looked up the number on caller i.d., called back, and noone answered! ThisIN SPITE of me leaving instructions on the messages to call my cell phone between 7:15 and 4:15 and my home phone after 5 PM. Oh well, looks like we won't have the money for it anyway...but I would still like to get an estimate so I'll know for future reference.

Its always good to plan ahead. My mom-mom was having work done from termite damage. She started asking a year in advance, since hte damage wasn't that bad to begin with.
Keep it on teh back burner, you never know when something might apear out of the blue
