Well - slob does come to mind - but we now have a routine and I have to say that lately his room has been pretty darn clean. His WORST habit that drives me nuts is the eating without utensils thing and then wiping his mouth on his sleeve, ignoring the perfectly clean napkin! I asked my DD what she wanted to be when she grew up (it is usually an astronaut - this day it was a barbarian). She must have heard me say one too many times, "What are you, a barbarian?" to my DS at the table! LOL!

I agree. My guys NEVER pick up anything until I tell them. Two of our boys share a room downstairs, and I try to make them have it 'straight' once a day. The two upstairs...
That has to be their worst habit. Unless it is leaving the door open, lights on, and water running. My husband says we might as well be called City Utility Company - we heat and light the neighborhood.

As far as habits go, I can echo the above about wiping a nose and mouth on his shirt. Not only the sleeve, but front shoulder, even the back. Does he roll in his food at school? Here pig pig pig Miles ;D

Brooke rarely, if ever, uses her napkin. After the meal it is just as spotless as the it was before it. Her shirt and sleeves are another story The other habit is the fact that her bedroom door has to be closed at all times. I will sneak it open and she will "know" immediately and go close it. I believe another post mention the "phone" thing. Do even get me started on that. Now that I think about it, that is her worst habit. How she acts the minute the phone rings.

Emily is a tornado around the house too. She's so good at it that it qualifies as a talent now. She does scare the thingyens out of me all the time though. She has this habit of just jumping up from just about anything at any given time and squeeling. This is her equivalent of a light bult going off and that she has an idea (which is almost as scary as the squeeling itself). Oh yeah....eating utensils are just something to be banged on the table or thrown in the trash. I'm constantly digging through the trash in the evening retrieving missing spoons. She just tips the plate and it all goes in!! I'm sure if she'd start using them during eating more she would think about them now and again. Oh well, that's another project for another day.

My 3 boys are incapable of flushing the toilet. [glow=red,2,300]Drives me nuts.[/glow] Even worse is they don't always remember to put the seat up. And the 2 younger ones have some problems at night hitting the toilet. I hate cleaning up all that pee!!!!!!!! Sue

I used to jump out and scare the crap out of Dad all the time.
That stopped after he decided to get me back. I was coming home from school (JH). I played oboe. He jumped out from behind the column in front of our house, and the first thing he saw was the oboe case coming away from his face. Yeah, the only bone I've broken wasn't my own, but I pretty much stopped jumping out and scaring people.

I dont know if these are adhd specific though... But the "mommy look at this", "brother look at this", " Daddy look at this", " Dog look at this", " cat look at this" When it goes to the animals I have really really HAD ENOUGH!!!Picking her nose (she cant be the only one can she!!!)... Refuses to "wipe" after potty, of course wont flush, and dont even ask her to wash her hands .... And this is the worst in hubby's eyes... We bought sd a new (fairly expensive one she WANTED) bed... A year later, and she still sleeps on the floor instead... The bed seems to be for playing (its one of those captain beds)... Give me an hour I am sure I will think of more!!! LOL ;D cat

OK, I feel better.....Dinner time I try to hide so I don't start taking heads:
4 yo : no silverware, dropping food, talking with packed cheeks <spraying food>, playing with drink and dinner. Chewing with mouth open and running around after each bite. Feeding dog with sensitive stomach <who will puke later>.
9yo: silverware marginally used as a shovel, smacking lips, slurping water, biting fork fidgeting, yelling at little brother for his table manners and taking 3 hours to eat. Feeding aforementioned dog with sensitive stomach <who will now REALLY puke>.
13yo: nothing to date except he gets the giggles and sprays you with food <I am convinced this is on purpose>, tattling on breathing habits of brothers and letting 4 yo feed the dog <poor animal> his dinner.
After each child has passed 3rd grade I treat myself to a complete set of silverware. I have owned 5 or 6 sets so far. Walmart has silverware you can buy packages of each utensil for replacements. I am sincerely considering this option.
Rooms are OK, one kid can't dress himself to save his life. You know the flu shot commercial about the mom who is sick and the kids are getting ready for school? The shorts and sandals and the snow outside? That'd be my house with one difference: the mother would be running out and throwing jackets and warm things at children while they ran.

I have been reading some of the worst habits and am glad to I am not alone in most of them. 8Yo: He is sure that napkin at dinner is for show. his shirt is always full of wiped off food. And the bedroom is clean when I do it for him 7YO: Since he has only mild ADD unlike his older brother who is severe ADHD and other comorbids he is trying to get atten- tion by uses his silverware as a shoveling truck and then also enjoys picking his nose and isn' t embarrassed at all by this cute >:(habit. 5YO: he is mild ADHD and is enjoying using the floor in the kitchen and bathroom as his art masterpiece. Just started the picking the nose thing. 2YO: Well she seems to be happy to use any sliverware as weapons on the brothers. ;D Have a peaceful day, Christina ;D

sounds like we may all have the same kids!! dd has a room so scary no one enters. it's been like that for over a year. not that it was ever great before but it's never taken her a year to clean it before. constantly talking is probably the one that bugs me the most. along with the path of her stuff throughout the house so you can exactly where she walked. sorry about the toenail thing, i have to admit, i used to bite mine too. when i ran out of fingernails, i'd start on the toes. i know it's gross but didn't seem so awful way back then! now i just wish i could reach them! karen
