It was kinda very sad at the high school here today...last night we lost 3 teens in a one car crash..on a very hilly road with alot of sharp turns and deep ditches..all three dead on impact. Two boys and a girl ages 16,15,15 Bud knew one boy and Jimmy knew the other. No alcholol in the car and they all had seat belts on. The driver had only had his license less than a week. It was wet and windy and nasty outside. I told Bud and Jimmy that this is why parents WORRY. Teens are NOT immortal. We even have a law about how many passengers and age of passengers when you are under 18. I guess it doesnt matter much now ...atleast to them. When I ride into town I can look across the cornless cornfields and see the hills where they all died and it was very sad thinking about it...and the what if's...(you know...what if it had been my kid, what if they had chosen another road....) Very sad.

OMG M/C ... That is just AWFUL !! ... and I have to admit that reading this I just went very very cold ... (having a son who has only had his driving licence for 3 days!!) ... I am soooo sooo sorry to read this .... A very very good friend of mine who now lives in Australia (but is from the UK) lost her 17 year old son in a car accident at Christmas .... No ... as you say they are NOT immortal .... it is just tragic that things like this have to happen to remind us !!

Dan will be getting his license in May, and I am already worried. Anytime I read about an accident in the paper, I show it to him. He is a good driver right now, but that is with me in the car with him. I worry about when he is on his own. I am so sorry for the family and friends of those teens. We lost 2 when I was in school because of a car accident. The worst part was the couple was being followed by the drivers older brother, (only one year age diffrence) and he watched them go off the road, and could do nothing to save his little brother and little brothers girlfriend.

I lost 2 very good friends (separate accidents, both STUPID, both DRUNK) when I was in high school. I was always afraid to ride in anybody else's car.
Michael asked me on the way home from school today if Dad and I will give him the truck in a few years when we buy a new vehicle! HA HA HA! Why would I GIVE him something that is worth real money to me!
I am glad on days like this, that he is the youngest in his class, and isn't old enough to drive! His best friend will be 16 next month, but his mother set a precedent with the older brother... no license until he is holding a high school diploma! I think I am going to stick with that! I didn't start driving until 1 month before I graduated (okay, I did drive... but without permission, without a license, and ONLY when I was drunk...)
It is way to sad to lose such a potential member of society over something so senseless...

:-XFor the families of the accident. When I was 16 I lost a friend, the first friend I'd ever lost. He wasn't aware of a stop sign and flew threw it. I get to say hello to him every time we go to one of my Uncle's houses. It was a mile down the road from there. Every time I go through an intersection I griip the wheel tighter, hoping that someone was paying attention. Oh let this be a lesson to the younger ones, please heed it

oh, this is such sad news! It bothers me a great deal everytime I read about something like this. Such a senseless tragedy. It not only brings about the "what ifs?" in me, but the "whys?" as well. Children aren't supposed to die! They should be mortal! hugs to you and your community M/C! I can kind of relate to the chills this brings in you mothers of drivers. All of you know Cami has a go-cart. On Sept. 11 (of all days) there was a 11 year old Columbus boy killed in a go-cart accident. His 9 year old cousin was driving it and ran right thru a stop sign into an oncoming truck. This 9 yr old not only lost his cousin, he now has to live the rest of his life knowing that he's the one that "killed" him. Since the accident I haven't let Cami ride her go-cart alone. I try each time she is driving it to hammer home the " Driving lessons" to her. Such a sad thing to happen.

M/C, that´s so sad Such a tradegy for all families and friend´s involved In here you have to be 18 until you can get the driver´s licence, but I guess couple years dont do much... my brother lost his best friend in car accident, he apparently fell asleep while driving and got killed instantly, it really hit my brother hard I guess it´s true; the older they get the bigger the worries get

unfortunately i think we all know of people are know people personally this has happened to. it's happened in this community too as it did when i was just out of high school to a senior that i knew well and had spoken to at the previous evening's football game. i also remind both my kids anytime something like this happens. one kid died because his girlfriend had broken up with him, he drove while he was upset. not sure if there was alcohol involved or not. he was thrown out of the car and off the overpass onto the road below. the police couldn't find him right away. it was really awful. same with racing home to meet curfew. no, just call and let me know you're running a little late. we had a kid killed doing that too. brittany knows of several kids who've died in accidents. no one really close to her but a couple were friends of friends and the rest were just kids she went to school with. i don't think it gets any easier. brittany has been driving for several years and i still worry. we also have snow to worry about, not just rain. the first snow always means plenty of accidents even in older drivers. we all seem to forget how to drive in from year to year. i just tell them to be careful nearly every time they leave the house. they probably don't hear it and i don't always realize i'm saying it. bless those poor kids' families. karen

:'(Apparently it happened around here recently. I thought I had told Mike about this, and he was telling me about ANOTHER accident, similar to this though. I hone in on the kids when it comes to accidents. Yes, they are accidents, but some accidents can be avoided if you are paying attnetion to what you are doing and not being careless. Senseless it is
