brittany is currently in CA, all by herself! she made all the arrangements by herself although we have changed her to a different hotel once she's in LA. much closer to the college she's looking at. she left early this morning, flew into san fran for a few hours and then to monterey. she's safe and sound and hopefully not doing anything too stupid! she's visiting a friend who will be deployed to iraq by the end of the year. sunday evening she flies into LA and visits the college monday and flies home late monday night for school and work on tuesday. ah, the energy of the young! she told me when she booked all this that she was going on a big girl trip!! the first time she's flown alone or gone so far away by herself. i'm doing ok, i had a quilt class all day today so i was very busy and didn't have a chance to think about it. keep hoping she makes wise choices! she is flying on 9/11 which gives her the creeps a little but she's doing it and i don't think she's too nervous. just thought i'd share! it's going to be quiet here this weekend! i do think i'll manage tho!!! karen

:DWhen I first saw the heading, I thought YOU had a vacation coming up ;D Good for Brittany, I'll keep her in my thoughts. I think that she has done a lot of growing up here recently, and she should be able to handle the choices. Keep up the relaxing time there mom, you deserve it

thanks! i am enjoying the more relaxed atmosphere in the house! brittany is visiting a friend at the army base there, he leaves for iraq before the end of the year. sunday she flies down to LA and will visit cal state at long beach. she's interested in going to school there next fall. figured since she was already out there, we'd pay for her to get down to LA, stay and visit before heading home. will be a quick trip but she can't afford to miss much school. the army guy she's visiting is also pretty busy most of the time and he had some time off this weekend. i've done very well about not bugging her but she did call me this morning! she was going to the aquarium and on a whale trip and something else. they went to a movie last night. ed's called her at least three times tho! all for various reasons of course!! well i do actually have my big girl trip coming up too! i go on my yearly trip to KY to sew with other quilt friends in a couple of weeks! no kids, no husbands, no cooking! we are gone for five days but two of those are spent driving. we always have a nice time too. i also hope brittany is making wise choices while she's there. my only real consolation is that since he's in the army, he has many rules that he knows can't be broken. he's been there for well over a year so he knows the drill. they haven't been romantically interested in each other, she just seems to be the only friend of his from here that makes an effort to keep in touch with him as much as he makes an effort. she'll be home before i know it! i know she's having fun too. karen

Good for Brittany! She is really growing, and your hard, hard work is showing! Let us know when she is back home safe and sound and how her trip went. In the meantime, enjoy the peace and quiet at home!
