Sonmehow a rumor was started in my area yesterday that local stations were running out of gas and that they would all be shutting down early. This rumor got WAY out of hand and people starting flocking to the stations like crazy! EVERY gas station in the vicinity was overloaded with cars waiting in line for gas...some waiting as long as two hours! Of course, some local thieves decided to take advantage and price gouge. We had one station in Columbus raise it's prices to 5.00 a gallon and people were line up waiting to pay it!!! He was exposed by a local news station and then police came and made him lower it back to the "normal" price. He even admitted in the interview with the news people that he had not be told by BP to raise it that high. It was a freaking mad house here yesterday though with people that had fell for the rumor. It took me FOREVER to get down one main street in Columbus because people were lined up in the road waiting to turn into the stations so the roads were almost blocked. Man, I hate people that start rumors and I hate folks even more that take advantage. Folks need to just calm down...gas will be here and yes the price is going to rise, but DEAL WITH IT!!! At least we have a car to put gas in and a home to go to when we are done. Geez! ok, off done ranting. ;D ;D ;D

I can't say as I blame ya for being ticked I would be too. To put it into a different perspective, look at around christmas time and they put the "hot" toys list out and people get mowed over the morning after thanksgiving I can't stand all the hoopla. I guess I'm just worried about if the guy in town will ever get gas again :PI hate going ouit of town just to get gas, we waste more gas just going to get it and coming home. The onl,y thing I really need it for is to get out to the club and there isn't a gas station between here and there. I gotta go a good 10 miles out of my way just to get gas My rants done too. Right there with ya Chritsy

The onl,y thing I really need it for is to get out to the club and there isn't a gas station between here and there. I gotta go a good 10 miles out of my way just to get gas THAT has GOT to be aggravating! The thing that gets me is people were flocking to the gas stations, filling up even if they didn't need to, and even hourding it! There were reports of people actually filling up gas cans for use later! Now, really, is that necessary? I'm fortunate in that our house is total electric but I think about people that need oil for heating...If this continues into the cooler months with people hogging it up when they don't need to, will it be available for those that REALLY need it? And with these money hungry crooks raising the prices when it's not needed, will they be able to afford it? All this then I turn on the news to see all the looting going on in New Orleans..people are actually shooting at the military, the police, etc. They are holding up vehicles headed to hospitals and such with food, water, and medicine for the sick! People in this world can just be soooo wrong at times!

Everybody, mark this day on your calendar! I have rendered Miles speechless! ;D ;D ;D ;D (understandably though!) Are you living by the old philosophy "if you don't have anything good to say, don't say anything at all?"

Geez! ok, off done ranting. ;D ;D ;D Gas has gotten way out of hand here too...I agree whole heartedly about the dealing with it..we are..I am lucky enough to have a car...and a home. The car is out there in the garage...cant afford to drive it ..but I am home a bit more now..so more is getting done. I have to ride a bike to town now..6 miles each way... because of the price of gas. The pres let loose some of the reserve ...there is NO REASON for gouging or raising the price now EXCEPT GREED. With all the devastation down south it is hard to complain about anything . I gave up complaining...cant afford gas so we either walk or ride a bike...BObo still has to drive the 12 miles each way but that is only fair he earns the check that is getting dwindled away by the rising cost of living . When I get hit by a car on my bike on the rural highway where everyone drives 70...then I will complain. It is hard to see people still worrying about silly things in life after Katrina...like how they look and whether or not they have big screen tv's, or my personnal favorite... reality tv. People hit by Katrina would probably settle for lights and a hot clean bath. I guess it is a materialistic society after all.. every city has a consumer fraud dept...if they are gouging where you live someone should let them know so they can be fined.

Our gas-provider´s warned that the price will rise this weekend, so there has been some line´s to the bump´s. The current price is 1.32€/litre and they say it´s gonna be more than 1.5€/litre saturday But I agree; deal with it, it´s not such a big problem... could be much worse and after the new´s during this week, there are some real tradegies going on...

It's an unfortunate impact of Katrina that we will ALL feel, but it is, FOR ONCE, noone's fault. The oild companies didn't plan a major hurricane to come and destroy oil rigs...it just happened. It will indeed cause alot of us to be staying home more, and to have to cut back in other places to afford gas if we can't switch to bikes or walking. It will indeed be hard, but for me when I want to start grumbling I'll remember the images of those I have seen on t.v. sobbing because they lost EVERYTHING, some including loved ones.

Gas prices jumped 30% from morning to noon. It went up another 10% yesterday, and 5% the day before. All total, it went from 2.67 to 3.78 in 3 days. Bike riding sounds a little more appealing. After Nate gets on the bus in the morning, I just have to figure out how to ride 15 miles in 30 minutes (30 mph!!). Let me know the solution to that one. Miles I also heard that if you haven't bought your lumber today expect exponential price increases with that too.

I did notice today the cheapest gas we could get was at $2.98/gal :oI thought Jersey was supposed to be cheaper Oh well, I just have to remember that I will be back to work soon, it's been a pain between not working and higher prices Christy, we have NO oil for our heater, so we'll be hoping they take lint from our pockets this year
