after 36 years I finally know for sure that I really do belong to my mom and dad! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D I grew up without my dad and was always SOOOOO different than my mom's side of the family I used to swear I was adopted! My mom didn't know where my birth certificate was so I never saw it and there were hardly any baby pictures of me. Anyway, after over 36 years my birth certificate finally showed up! My brother found it in some old papers mom gave him while we were moving her last weekend! I have to say I was in awe of the dang thing!!! There was that piece of paper that plainly stated Leon HXXXX as my father, aged 27 at time of birth, Sandra as my mother, aged 21. I was born at 9:08 pm and weighed 8 lbs 11 oz. These are things I honestly didn't know until now! Mom couldn't remember...the only things she could were the bad things...like how daddy wasn't there and how he came the next day and brought Wendy's mom with him. The funniest part was the hopital... we have three in Columbus and the one I always thought I was born at wasn't the one I was! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D But anyway, I now have the original certificate, tattered and torn, and stamped with the official notary stamp as being typed up on March 16, 1969. So, though I am still the black-sheep... I do belong!

In Jersey we have to have our birth certificate for everything. My mom-mom went to renew her dricer's license. She had to have her birth certificate, her marraige certificate to Pop-pop HIS death certificate, then she remarried, and had to have all of that PLUS her new marraige certificate Is it Just Jersey that is a pain Sorry, at least there's no denying you now...... ;D

ok, let me clarify, or further confuse you..... I really WAS adopted, but not in the way I used to make accusations about! Remember, my mom and dad divorced before she was born and her second husband adopted me and my brother. When adopted you get a new birth certificate with the adoptive parent's name so I always had THAT "birth" certificate. But THAT dad exited my life when he and mom split up and when me and dad got close I never had my original certificate to show him as my real, biological father. Even last year when dad adopted me back (yes, I know, my life is a regular soap opera) we didn't have the original to reflect back on. So, up until now I have never had the actual certificate that was issed when I was born. The adoption certificate did not have the info I listed above as far as time of birth, weight and all. And until now I have never had anything that had Leon H, my real father, documented as such. As crazy as it may sound, it was just wild to finally see it in black and white.

You know what got my daddy to officially adopt me back? When he found out that my then official birth certificate DIDN"T have his name on it! We were talking one day at a family get together and it came out that the certificate I had had Steve's (my mom's second dh) on it as my father. We were laughing about it because Steve is six years younger than my mom so it has his age at time of" Daughter's" birth as 15! That always bothered me for some reason because someone else looking not knowing that Steve had adopted me at age 5 would find that "not quite right". Anyway, when dad found this out it .... along with just the desire to make me legally "his" again so there will be no doubts or difficulties when he passes on one day....is what got him going on adopting me back! He, just like me, didn't like seeing Steve's name on my certificate!! LOL His birthday is this Friday, I think I'll make a copy of it for him.
