that have touched your heart and emotions? I am sure you have had many as I have. What came to mind as you read this? I was thinking of my dad yesterday...he passed away a few years ago...actually about 6 Anyway I went to school to pick up Paul after the funeral (he didn't want tp go) and the love and support I got from the staff was overwhelming!!!! One of my 5th graders asked me to come down to the classroom and as I walked into the room they presented me with cards that they had made themselfs....well my nerves were raw and I started crying. Every single one of those kids came up and hugged me I am not impresed with a lot of things in this world but kids impress me and always will

ok, i'm back this is the first one that came to my mind as i read your question, but i had to give myself a minute! my ds9 gave me a little gift last year that he made in school. it is a little red hair comb. on it he had glued 3 little plastic figures. one was a violin, one was an umbrella and one was an angel. he handed it to me and said, "the violin is because you sing to me, the umbrella is b/c you keep me safe and the angel is b/c you are my angel". omg, straight to the heart!!!! i still get choked up thinking about it!!!

GULP !! ... I can see this thread is going to be one of those that really DOES get you right "there" ... Oh Linda and Amsmom those stories are both real heart-jerkers!! The first thing that came to mind for me on reading this was when Sam was much much younger (maybe 5/6) and he had a box of butterflies that he had nurtured from their cocoons (or whatever the shells they are born in are called!) .... anyway we told him that once they were "born" and became butterflies he should let them free... I always remember him going outside with his box and opening the lid .... and all the butterflies started flying off ... and he stood there with tears streaming down his cheeks saying "Bye bye my lovely butterflies ..." For some reason the memory of that STILL tugs at my heartstrings!! Oh !! I just remembered something else (Am I allowed 2?) ... this one ISN'T so "sweet" ... It had been raining hard and Sam was about 11/12 I guess .... Because of the rain there were many snails and slugs "out" ... anyway a little later I went out into the garden and there were heaps of snails and slugs all sitting in one of the flower beds ... "Yes," said Sam proudly "I rescued them all from the road where they would have all got run over!" .... AAAAAGHHHH !!! ... I had to give him a very quick gardening lesson at that point!! ...

AWWWW Anne that quickly brought up a memory when Paul was about 5 and in kdgn. He found a birdsnest on the way to school with eggs still in the nest. He cradled that very carefully because he wanted to show his teacher. While waiting in line for the bell to ring...the class bully knocked it right out of Paul's hands. He just stood there with tears streaming down his face.

I guess I'm pretty cold-hearted. I just can't think of anything! I know the first time my kids said "I love you," especially when they initiated it, was special. I don't specifically remember those times, though. Well, ok. I may have posted this before, but here goes. My DS has always liked balloons. One January we went to a children's expo where the kids got balloons. While walking back to the van, there was some conversation about Jesus being in heaven or something; then DS said,"I'm going to give my balloon to Jesus because it was just His birthday and He has done so much for us." When we got home he went outside and let the balloon go.

You DID think of something and you are far from being cold hearted. When Paul was in kdg. his teacher was talking about kids that didn't have warm coats or enough to eat. I can't remember what country she was talking about. Anyway Paul went to his "cubby"and took his new winter coat down and told the teacher to give it to one of the kids. I think our kids are very sweet and kind
