My poor old, old cat! She's 19 years old and she walks around the house yowling! No, she's not in pain, she's just crazy! Sometimes she does this yowling while carrying a stuffed animal kitten that she stole from me when she was a kitten! I love her, but this yowling at 5am is just crazy! She does it about 5+ times a day. It's actually kind of funny if I'm awake... She knows I'm talking about her, now she's on my lap purring.

Why do you think she does this? I have an old cat -- he's about 16 -- and he does the same thing! He doesn't seem to be in pain, and it doesn't seem to have anything to do with being hungry. But he'll walk around yowling, too. I get so exasperated that I throw pillows at him. (No, I don't actually hit him, I'm not THAT mean.) His other annoying habit is he HAS to sleep on my feet. I worry if I go to bed and he isn't asleep at the foot of the bed. He wasn't there the other night and I searched the house until I found him sound asleep with my 4yo daughter, tucked under her arm like a stuffed animal. How she can stand that awful breath in her face is a mystery to me.

I also have an older cat (she is 18). My cat hardly ever meows but this past week she will be sleeping and all of a sudden wake up and give out this loud meow. She has also been meowing at the boys to let her outside (she will only be ignored for so long ;D). Oh and do I understand about the bad breath~~~whew is it bad My kity kity just loved it when I was sleeping downstairs after surgery~~was on my chest everynight but I love her dearly so she stayed.

My cat is only 8, but he has been VERY vocal lately too. I thought maybe he was missing the rest of the family. But now, I wonder.
Could it be that the cats are voicing their complaints about global warming? Are they just cranky because of the heat and humidity? It seems odd that cats all over the continent are demonstrating the uncharacteristic behaviors.
Are these other cats indoor/outdoor cats or are they just luxuriating in the air conditioning? My goes in and out, but I keep him out of MY room, which is the only one with A/C because I am allergic to him!
But he likes to sleep on the floor in the hall way right outside my room where the cool air leaks out under the door.
Maybe it is something totally different. Like the locusts buzzing that is bothering them. Or maybe it is something we haven't experienced yet... a meteor crash or a big earthquake coming...
At least we know there are cats in our homes. My house would have been too darn quiet this week without Sam making all the noise!

I have an older cat too...I think she is 15 and she still thinks she is a kitten!!! She is an outdoor cat and for the past week she is in and out like a kid!!! She comes in the back door and heads for the front door to be let out. I have no idea why she does that. My other cat Taz is about 8 and he has just been lying around. He is usually VERY vocal but he has been quiet!!! WHO KKNOWS!!! ;D ;D ;D

It seems odd that cats all over the continent are demonstrating the uncharacteristic behaviors. So are people... just watch them. Seems like all the crazy's are louder and crazier here the past week or so.. ..maybe it is just the heat and humidity ...or the dog days of summer..or the planets are lined up wrong.. the other day we found one of the kittens sitting on the door...the top ledge of the door ..yowling for help ..how'd he get there? As for going from one door to the other...mine are inside cats but the kids are doing that for them.

;D My old kitty did that. He would steal toys and "mother" them, and in stranger times the dirty lil buzzard would try and hump them. ;D I have a cat right now that reaches his paws under the doors and shakes them back and fourth at all ALL hours of the night, the doors bang loudly, this is his way of "knocking" to say I WANT OUT NOW ! It drives me crazy specially at 3 am, and if that isnt bad enough, he meows loudly and its sounds like he is yelling "HELLO" ...I KNOW YOUR THERE.. ;D

;D I have a cat right now that reaches his paws under the doors and shakes them back and fourth at all ALL hours of the night, the doors bang loudly, Jumper does this as well on my bifold closet doors. Once she FINALLY gets it open, she usually walks in and then out again! She's actually been very vocal for the last year, but increasingly so! She's indoor only, and very pampered in the AC. I think she's just senile! Once again, she's with me............... I love the little girl!

Since we're talking about wierd cats, I'll share mine. I have one of those littermaid automatic litter boxes(about 10 min after he "gets done" it scoops up the mess and it goes into a tray) anyway, as soon as hears the motor he'll run back in and "bat" at the scooper as it's cleaning up his mess then when it's done, for some reason he goes back in the litter box (just to scratch around) so the sensor is activated again and it goes off another 10 mins later.. It's fine during the day but a royal pain to hear it going off every 10 mins thoroughout the nite. After about the 3rd time I just get up and turn it off so the sensor doesn't work.

;DI have one of those electric poopy scoopers too, and my tabby loves to jump in and out and make the thing scoop. He sits on the top of the poop shoot and plays in the sand to make it work. The cat can spend hours doing this. I think its a kitty fetish ;D or something.

I noticed that your dog is a boy!
If given the chance, boys seem to think of all kinds of different ways to pee...
My 3 were visiting friends who also have 2 boys (all ages 5-9), and we found out that they were climbing up the middle of very tall pine trees, and peeing down from there! ;D
What could I do but laugh! The trees are so tall and thick, no one else could possibly have seen them!
