This is so sad and senseless....I am still reeling Boys Killed in Local Fire Jul 28, 2005, 4:02 PM A house fire claims the life of 2 young boys in north Lansing. Fire broke out at about 10:30am at a house on Thomas Street in Lansing. That's just off Turner Road, north of Grand River. All of the hot spots inside the home have been put out. Now investigators are inside the home trying to find the cause of the fire that killed the 2 boys. Earlier, Thomas Street was blocked off with fire engines, rescue vehicles and police vehicles filling the streets. We're told that fire crews got there quickly. Two crews went inside the home, 1 with a hose, the other searched for the 2 boys, but it was too late. The boys were already dead. We're told the boys were found in a bed together in a bedroom in the back of the home just before you get to the kitchen. They believe the fire started in the kitchen. We're told that the boy's mother and their sister were also inside of the home at the time the fire started, but they made it out alive. Investigators are left with at least 2 unanswered questions: what caused the fire and why the boys didn't make it out.

I am there with you Linda . A friend of mine lost is brother and nephew in a fire a year ago. The brother was trying to get the son to jump from the second floor, he would not, so the brother went back in to get him and both died. They were great people who we miss a lot. Miles

This is indeed very sad. I echo Trid in that my heart goes out to the family and community. Such a senseless loss. ..

It gets worse!!! I was watching the news and they showed the family. I know them!!What the heck is a person supposed to say when they have lost their precious boys. Oh Linda! I wish I knew the answer to that but I don't. I tried finding the answer when my brother lost his baby, and I tried finding it when a close coworker of mine lost his son just a month after graduating high school.... I couldn't. All I did was hug them hard and cried right along with them. Just letting them know you are there for them, that you care and you can understand their extreme pain is about all you can do. To you and them.

Linda,
Ditto on what the ladies above said, just knowing you are there as a parent will be comforting. At times nothing comes out when you go to them, I always feel there is a reason nothing comes out. I am sure that your presense thoughts and prayers will mean a lot to the parents. It may never seem like enough, but you give what you can.

The mom and her dd escaped the fire....can you imagine the guilt the mom must feel? The fire dept. were there within minutes and couldn't get in the house because of the heat...as was the police dept. The boys were 8 and 4.

Linda again; this is so sad, the best thing to do is to be there for them when they need you, there is totally nothing you can say or do that would fix this, but yo´ur support will be that what they need. my thought´s and prayer´s with all who involves to this.

The Grandmother lives next door to her daughter and has a day care. She(Grandmother) called 911 when she saw flames and tried to go in the house to save her grandchildren but was beaten back by the smoke and heat. As a result of the trauma of her grandkids dying...she suffered a mild heart attack
