What a horrible day!!

I got to work at 8.00 this morning (early for me!) and an adult student came in to my office ... I was the only one there ... He told me his wife died three weeks ago and then he burst into tears ... OMG !! I felt sooo helpless!! ... I made him a cup of tea (as we Brits tend to do at such times!) and sympathised and honestly didn't know what to say ... I just didn't KNOW him well enough to give him a hug ...

Then I got onto my email (after he had left) and there was a note from my friend in Australia who lost her 17 year old son in a car accident at Xmas time ... and OMG that poor girl ... still (sooooooo understandably) struggling to come to terms with what had happened ...

and then I met a colleague who had been expecting twins and I had been told she had lost BOTH her twins ... and ... she came back to work today ... and

This was all within the first hour of this morning... !!

Its been a HORRIBLE Monday!! ...

Anne...maybe we should all just skip this week after all and move on to next week. I am so sorry you are having a rough day...emotions seem to be running on high where you are ..probably all the recent events at the root of it. Stay tough and make more tea sounds like you'll need it.

Hey I no sooner got my dh out the door to work and back he came ...taking an unplanned Vacation day to go fishing (without me) but with Bud. After I got done working I got the job of taking Jared to the skate board place with all those six foot ramps and seeing him repeatedly fall on his head and other body parts. ;D I want normal to return..you know Bobo goes to work and stays there...the kids hook up to the computer and stay there.... ;D ;D ;D ;D

I hear what you are saying Anne, I went over to another department yesterday morning and was told one of my coworkers suddenly died of a heart attack. Huge loss as a friend and our organization. Makes you think about the precious things in life.

Thank you everyone ... and Miles I am sooo sorry to hear about your friend/colleague too!! But what you say is soo true ... when you see such horrible things happening around you it really DOES make you think about the precious things in life AND brings a lot of things into "perspective" somehow!!

Today was a much better day for me 'personally' ... but I am equally sure it WASN'T a better day for the three people I mentioned AND for the family and friends of your friend Miles!! ...
